They report 137 new cases of coronavirus in Venezuela this # 23Jun
Text by Mariana Souquett Gil |

Venezuela added 137 new cases of coronavirus this Tuesday, June 23, and raised its total number of infections to 4,185 since March 13, President Nicol?s Maduro and his spokesmen reported in a transmission on the Venezuelan state television channel.

The vice president of the Nicol?s Maduro administration, Delcy Rodr?guez, reported 56 cases of community transmission and 81 "imported": 66 came from Colombia, one from Brazil, eight from Peru and six from Ecuador.

Of the community transmission cases, 25 are in M?rida and 18 are from an "event" in El Vig?a, a party in which "a trochero" participated, according to Maduro. Four of the cases are in Lagunillas in M?rida and originated from a vegetable dealer in Zulia state.

"We have a focus in El Vig?a as a result of a party, a party, irresponsible behavior that has infected dozens of men, women, boys and girls," said the governor. He added that they are doing mass screening in the municipality.

They also reported seven cases in Lara, of which three are from Santa Rosa, Iribarren municipality, and four are in Torres municipality.

Miranda also registered seven new cases: four cases in Petare, one in Caucag?ita and two in Chacao, one of them a doctor from a private clinic. They also detected eight cases in the Capital District: one in El Para?so, one on January 23, one in Caricuao, three in Catia (Sucre parish) and two cases in El Recreo.

Aragua also reported a case in La Victoria, captured in a sentinel hospital, and a 44-year-old man in a private clinic. Two new cases appeared in Vargas: one in Naiguat? and the other in Urimare. In Trujillo they also identified two: a 69-year-old woman in Sabana de Mendoza, with serious condition, and a 39-year-old man in Pamp?n.

In the east of the country, Monagas reported an infected 14-year-old teenager, and Anzo?tegui a 39-year-old man, captured in "institutional screening". The last case is in Yaracuy and was captured in a day of mass screening.

Delcy Rodr?guez announced that Venezuela will begin to use the plasma of recovered patients as treatment for COVID-19 cases. He indicated that it has had "very good impact" in most of the countries that have been applying it.

Maduro also expressed that Faustino Torella, Venezuelan consul at Boa Vista, arrived in the country "in emergency" from Brazil infected with COVID-19.

The Minister of Health, Carlos Alvarado, stated that the main sources of coronavirus contagion in Venezuela are the Las Pulgas market, with 403 affected and 13 deceased, and the municipality of Gran Sabana, Bol?var state, where there are 126 infected pemons, "all asymptomatic and isolated ”.

    Inconsistencies

During the transmission, the spokespersons gave different figures: initially, Maduro reported 58 cases of community transmission, but later Delcy Rodr?guez indicated that they were 56, a figure that results from adding the cases he detailed.

Regarding the cases in the Merida state, both Maduro and Rodr?guez indicated in principle that they were 18 originated from a party in El Vig?a. However, Rodr?guez later indicated that 16 people were infected at the party. Later, the Health Minister expressed that there were 17 people from that focus.

In reference to the total number of cases, if the figures mentioned in principle by Maduro are added together, there are 139 new cases. If the figures given by Delcy Rodr?guez are totaled, there are 137 cases. However, the national bulletin of COVID-19 available on the website of the Homeland System indicates that this June 23, 138 cases were reported and the country accumulates 4,186.

    New buses and reopened metro

Maduro announced the delivery of 591 buses assembled in Yaracuy at the Yutong Venezuela plant. "We have to improve public transportation," he said. He assured that they expect to add a minimum of 2,000 new buses during 2020. The Minister of Transport, Hip?lito Abreu, assured for his part that they are working on a plan to "repower" units.

The president indicated that he gave the order to reopen the Metro and rail systems this Tuesday, because "unnecessary and harmful bottlenecks" were being created because people from the prioritized sectors were crowding to board the buses.

"Let's open the Metro and that the prioritized and duly authorized workers have their metro and train systems as we did in the long quarantine," he said.

The governor also announced the suspension of the parade acts of June 24 and July 5; tributes will be held but without parades, due to the quarantine by coronavirus in Venezuela.

Increase in the contagion curve due to Covid-19 marks week in Venezuela
Caracas, Jun 27 (Prensa Latina) During this week that just ended, Venezuela faces an exponential growth of the contagion curve by Covid-19 with a total of 4,779 positive cases to date.

In this regard, President Nicol?s Maduro stressed that the outbreak of the new coronavirus in the country is caused by those who unscrupulously enter people from Colombia and Brazil through the trails avoiding the border sanitary cord.

In several speeches this week, the president and other top officials stressed to regional authorities that they must ensure that the health posts on the border are not violated by gangsters, who pass people illegally and end up infecting families in many states.

Maduro pointed out that although Venezuela's figures are incomparable with those of Chile, Ecuador, Brazil, Colombia and Peru, the negative impact that these actions have had on unscrupulous individuals is impressive.

He urged to cut that chain of infections that began in April and stressed that the only way to achieve that is with radical and disciplined quarantine.

'We are obliged to undergo a radical, conscious and disciplined quarantine. This is not a political problem, this is a health, life and family problem. I thank you for the level of compliance and discipline in this formula of seven plus seven, 'he said.

Meanwhile, the Government intensified the epidemiological follow-up actions in the original towns located in the border state of Zulia, one of the most affected by Covid-19 in the country.

Last Thursday the Ministry for Indigenous Peoples and the government coordinated plans for the application of pandemic containment protocols among said populations in the region, affected as a result of the illegal passage of infected people through their territories.

At the meeting it was agreed to carry out a joint work between indigenous representatives and the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) to combat the activity of the trochers in Zulia.

Since a contagion focus was also detected in the middle of last month in the Las Pulgas market, in the city of Maracaibo, belonging to that same state, the Executive has reinforced sanitary measures in the region, in which members of the Cuban medical brigades Ernesto Che Guevara and Henry Reeve.

Meanwhile, the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodr?guez, announced the application of plasma treatment to serve positive patients for Covid-19.

Rodr?guez reported in a television intervention that plasma treatments of recovered patients will begin, which have had good results in Cuba, China and Russia.

Currently, this South American country has applied more than a million tests in massive surveys that are carried out in vulnerable places or to people suspected of contagion.

Regarding the current condition of the patients, official reports indicate that two thousand 967 are asymptomatic, 429 have mild severe acute failure, six moderate severe acute failure and new severe acute failure.

Venezuela reaches 51 deaths from COVID-19 and records 5,832 infected
              07/01/2020 02:52
Caracas, Jun 30 (EFE) .- Three people died in the last 24 hours from COVID-19 in Venezuela, which also registered 302 new infections, bringing the total number of deaths with the disease to 51 and 5,832 people infected with the SARS-COV-2 coronavirus, executive vice president Delcy Rodr?guez reported Tuesday.
The three deceased are a 77-year-old woman and two men, one 84 years old and the other 53, Rodr?guez explained during the daily meeting of the government committee in charge of stopping the COVID-19 pandemic in Venezuela.
Of the 302 new cases registered, 175 are the result of community contagion, 99 of which occurred in the state of Zulia, on the border with Colombia, in whose capital, Maracaibo, the largest focus in Venezuela of COVID-19 has been detected.
In addition, there were 107 cases "imported" by Venezuelans who returned to their country and 20 more were spread by contact with travelers.
During the government committee meeting, President Nicol?s Maduro intervened by telephone, who stated that he had spoken with the governor of Zulia, Omar Prieto, to whom he offered all the help to stop the expansion of the new coronavirus.
"We have reinforced the medical presence, of medicines, we have to do more daily diagnostic tests because we have to win the battle for Zulia," said Maduro.
Regarding Caracas, the Venezuelan president stressed that there is "no focus" but the virus "is very spread" by all sectors, especially those in which the population lives very concentrated.
Finally, he affirmed that if Venezuela is compared with other countries in the Latin American region such as Colombia, Brazil, Peru, Chile or Ecuador "someone could say that there is no reason for alarm."
However, he asked Venezuelans not to trust themselves because "it is a highly contagious virus." EFE

Venezuela registered three deaths and 282 new daily cases of coronavirus this Tuesday, July 7, and reached 7,693 infections and 71 deaths from COVID-19.

The Minister of Communication and Information of the Nicol?s Maduro administration, Jorge Rodr?guez, reported that there were 239 community cases and 43 due to the Venezuelan migration that returned to the country in the last 24 hours.

This is the eighth consecutive day in which cases of community transmission exceed those imported and in this period total 1657.

                        Three deaths

The deceased were two men from the Capital District and one from the Zulia state.

The first was an 82-year-old man from the Ant?mano parish. He started presenting symptoms on May 25 with a cough and fever. He suffered from chronic pulmonary obstruction and high blood pressure. He was admitted to a sentinel hospital on June 6 and although his evolution was stable until June 29, on June 30 he began to present progressive neurological deterioration. On the night of July 6, he suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest.

The second victim, also from Caracas (El Junquito parish), was a 40-year-old firefighter. The death was reported Tuesday morning by the Mayor of Chacao, Gustavo Duque, where Juan Lara worked.

The minister reported that he was overweight and hypertensive. His symptoms started on June 20, but he did not go to a health center. According to Rodr?guez, "he self-medicated and started antibiotic treatment and lost some very valuable days that could have helped us more."

On June 28 they did a rapid test, but although it was negative, his symptoms showed a probable cause of COVID-19. He was admitted to a sentinel hospital (Victorino Santaella de Los Teques), where he was admitted to the intensive care unit on July 3 for acute respiratory failure. “He arrived decompensated and was admitted to the ICU on July 3, there was progressive deterioration of respiratory and cardiovascular functions. He passed away on July 6 ”.

The last victim they disclosed was a 60-year-old man from Zulia state, from the Maracaibo municipality. He suffered from high blood pressure and diabetes. It started with fever, cough, vomiting, and shortness of breath on June 24. They took him to a sentinel hospital, where they transferred him to the ICU. There was no improvement and he died of cardiorespiratory arrest.

While in the report of local cases, 121 cases of coronavirus in Venezuela correspond to the Sucre state, the highest number in the eastern state. Of these, 116 are from the fish processing company Pescalba.
