6 new cases of Covid-19 in Venezuela raise the national figure to 367
      Text by Deisy Mart?nez @deicamar

On the night of this Tuesday, May 5, Vice President Delcy Rodr?guez reported on six new cases of COVID-19 in Venezuela. Two of these infections in women correspond to the Bol?var state "imported from Brazil," he pointed out, and four to the focus that still persists in the Nueva Esparta state.

The official specified that on the island of Margarita those diagnosed were a 41-year-old Coast Guard (GN), a 34-year-old woman, the wife of a DJ who participated in a party at the Baseball Academy; a 12-year-old girl, the daughter of infected parents also linked to the academy and a 14-year-old teenage athlete. With these cases, the national figure increases to 367 throughout the country.

“These cases confirm a number that has to call us to reflection. The focus associated with the baseball academy reaches 49 cases of people infected with COVID-19, while the focus associated with the coastal command has 48 positive cases, "he said.

In this way, Nueva Esparta continues to lead the list in the official coronavirus numbers with 116 infections. Miranda followed with 90 confirmed cases, Aragua 34 and Capital District 33. With these two new diagnoses, 5 infections were registered in Bol?var.

“Look at what originated (in Nueva Esparta) the contagion of three people who made that state register today 50% of the active cases of COVID-19 in Venezuela and a third of the total (367) in the country. If it weren't for this focus, we would have better numbers, ”said Rodr?guez.

      23 cases in returned migrants

He explained that there are 164 patients recovered from the virus, 100 inmates in sentinel hospitals, 73 in Comprehensive Diagnostic Centers (CDI) and 20 in private clinics. To date, he reported, 490,851 tests have been carried out in the country to detect the virus.

He stressed that our country has the lowest death rate from the disease in Latin America with only 10 cases. He assured that the number of infections is also very low for every million inhabitants.

"We have 116 asymptomatic cases of COVID-19, hence the importance of respecting social isolation and the use of the mask," he recalled.

Rodr?guez also reported that until this Tuesday, May 5, 27,322 Venezuelan migrants have returned to the country, of which 23 cases (of the national total) were positive for COVID-19.

During the presentation of this balance, the vice president of Nicol?s Maduro reiterated that the blackouts that occurred this Tuesday in Venezuela were part of an "attack" linked to the incursion that took place in Vargas.

Venezuela reports 15 new cases of COVID-19 and reaches 455 infections
                      Text by Cocuyo Effect

Venezuela reported 15 new cases of COVID-19 this Thursday, May 14, all of people who returned to the country from four South American nations, bringing to 455 infections since March 13.

Six Venezuelans who arrived from Ecuador, six from Brazil, two from Colombia and one from Chile make up the 15 new cases of the disease caused by coronavirus in the country.

In a television broadcast, the vice president of the Nicol?s Maduro administration, Delcy Rodr?guez, assured that of those from Ecuador, five are inhabitants of Falc?n state, who returned on a flight on May 9.

They were under quarantine in Los Caracas and are now admitted to the La Guaira hospital. They are a 42-year-old woman, a 3-year-old girl, a 26-year-old man, a 24-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman.

On the same flight a 36-year-old woman from Merida state came. She has mild respiratory failure and is admitted to a healthcare center in La Guaira.

A 33-year-old woman from Colombia came from Vargas. He came from Cartagena and entered through T?chira. Then he was quarantined in Los Caracas and tested positive there. In Los Caracas there was also a 39-year-old man from the Capital District, from Chile. May 9 arrived.

In the T?chira state, a case of a 25-year-old woman was registered. He came from C?cuta and returned to the country on April 16.

The cases from San Gabriel in Brazil are a 27-year-old woman, a 23-year-old man and a 35-year-old man. The three entered through the Amazon state. Of the total of 15 new cases, three entered Bol?var from Brazil: an 18-year-old girl, asthmatic; a 2-year-old boy, the woman's son, and a 55-year-old woman.

                      More tests and "more quarantine"

President Nicol?s Maduro said he expects the country to carry out a million tests in 10 days. He also called for the quarantine to be maintained, since he assured that if it is “loosened” the cases would skyrocket. He stressed that if measures had not been taken, Venezuela would have 369,460 cases, more than 22,000 patients in intensive care and a figure of more than 14,700 deaths.

"I have ordered a million additional tests to go home to home this week and next week," he said. Maduro pointed out that the results of the Patria System survey show that more than 55,000 people are missing to visit. He stressed that the new phase will be a new offensive "to find the coronavirus wherever it is" with "more visits from house to house" and "more quarantine."

"The correct step is to stand firm, radicalize the quarantine, ensure that the family takes care of it to continue moving forward," he added. "Quarantine has allowed us to have a healthier country," he said, referring to the decrease "almost to zero" in consultations and the decrease in manifestations of other diseases.

Along with Maduro was the president of the state-owned Quimbiotec, Gregorio S?nchez, who assured that they are looking for alternatives to incorporate into the therapeutic scheme. "Including inorganic elements like chlorine dioxide," he said.

Using the plasma of patients who have already overcome the disease was another proposal. "It could represent a help and therapeutic alternative for sick patients," he said. He indicated that they are exploring this option together with the Municipal Blood Bank of Caracas.

                      Return of Venezuelans and politics

Maduro stated that 535,742 diagnostic tests have been applied. He noted that 37,820 Venezuelans have returned, of which 21,506 entered through T?chira. Of the border cases in T?chira, 43 positive cases have been detected.

The president also assured that new groups of "hitmen" are being formed in Colombia to attack Venezuela and linked them with the government of Colombian President Iv?n Duque.

“New mercenary groups are being formed in Colombia. We have the data, names, surnames, we have the places, where they are, who makes them up, who protects them, and everything points to Iv?n Duque again. I'm saying it today, May 14, ”he indicated.
