        Venezuelan health authorities confirmed that 124 events of H1N1 have been recorded in Venezuela as of Wednesday.

        Minister of Health Eugenia Sader said that the Capital District has recorded 25 cases of influenza A. She added that the Venezuelan government has enough vaccines to deal with the outbreak.

        Sader reiterated that a mass vaccination plan is not scheduled. "The vaccine is only recommended for population at risk: children, pregnant women, adults over 60 years old and people with chronic diseases (high blood pressure, heart disease or cancer)."

          CARACAS, Venezuela ? Venezuelan health officials say 179 people have been diagnosed with swine flu in the country.

          Health Minister Eugenia Sader says health authorities are also testing more than 200 other patients to see if they have A H1N1 swine flu.

          The number of reported cases has grown since officials announced last week that 12 people had the virus and that they believed one person had died of swine flu.

          Sader said at a news conference Thursday that all of those now being treated have "light cases" and that none of them are in intensive care units.

          Venezuelan officials in 2009 attributed dozens of deaths to swine flu.

            Swine flu cases rise to more than 200 in Venezuela

            CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) ? Venezuelan health officials say the number of confirmed swine flu cases in the country has risen to more than 200 people.

            Health Minister Eugenia Sader says 23 new cases have been diagnosed, raising the nationwide total to 202.

            Government officials have reported two deaths since an initial spate of swine flu cases were confirmed last week.

            Sader said on Friday that the most cases, 82, have been confirmed in the southwestern state of Merida. There have also been 49 people diagnosed in Caracas, along with others elsewhere in the country.

            Venezuelan officials in 2009 attributed dozens of deaths to swine flu.
