      The Ministry of Health of Peru (MINSA) has confirmed 12 new deaths resulting from influenza AH1N1, so the total number of deaths in Peru amounted to 133.

      The new deaths were reported 4 in Lima, 3 in Callao, 2 in Cusco, 1 in Lambayeque, 1 in Piura and 1 in Arequipa.

      As reported by health authorities, all belonged to risk groups and showed that most chronic renal failure, diabetes, pulmonary fibrosis, rheumatoid arthritis, TB, chickenpox, and epilepsy.

      On the other hand, the MINSA explained that between 14 and 20 September there were 418 new cases of novel influenza, increasing to 8 thousand 104 the total infected.

              Peru will vaccinate 3 million against H1N1 influenza virus in January

              LIMA - Peru will vaccinate against H1N1 influenza virus to three million people, representing 10% of its population, from 15 January 2010, reported on Friday, Health Minister Oscar Ugarte.

              "We estimate that during the initial phase will be vaccinated some 3 million people," said the head of Health, who said that figure is expected to reach between January and March, the state told Andina news agency.
