Situation Report:
Surveillance of Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI)Week 1 to 30, 2012
1. Trend and intensity of the activity of influenza like illness (ILI) As recorded in Schedule Weekly Notifiable, ILI consultations accumulated to SE 30 (22 to 28 July, 2012) totaled 214,033 notifications, corresponding to this week, 13,089 ILI consultations, representing an incidence rate of 196.2 per 100,000 population across the country, all ages, representing a decrease of 10% compared to the SE 29.
...
Regionally, only 2 regions; Design and Caaguaz?, recorded an increase in moderate intensity
(20 to 50%) and a low intensity (lower than 20%), Guair?, with respect to the previous week.
...
2. - Consultation Monitoring ILI and SARI hospitalized in Hospitals Sentinel:
Data from the Sentinel Surveillance indicates that the proportion of consultations for ILI among all queries was 16%, with a similar situation last week.
...
The proportion of Hospitalized for Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) at the Centers Sentinels remained in Epidemiological Week (EW) 30 in 11% (153/1.396). The proportion of income between SARI ICU admissions to ICU from all causes reached 75% this week (30/40) present the greatest proportion of the year. Those killed by SARI reported by the Sentinel to add 127 SE 30, with 20 partners to respiratory viruses identified and of these 13 to Influenza A H1N1 pdm 09..
...
...
The data accumulated to demonstrate movement SE 30 respiratory viruses on the rise, being identified the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) 54%, the influenza A H1N1 pdm 09 (28%), the Influenza B (6%), the Adenovirus (5%), the Parainfluenza (5%) and H3 Influenza A (2%). (Figure 5)
Regarding virological surveillance at the Centers Sentinels of SARI, the percentage of positivity keeps growing, reaching in the last week 52% (n = 25), 44% for the Respiratory Syncytial Virus and 8% Influenza virus A H1N1 pdm 09. In the last week continue to dominate the positive samples syncytial virus.
