Santiago, November 28 .- The A/H1N1 virus alert is still valid in some South American countries despite the fact that many of them high ambient temperatures are linked to the arrival of the austral summer in December.

Although many nations were reduced and even eliminated alerts checks at airports and isolation rooms in hospitals, others stepped up surveillance amid fears there is a resurgence of the disease. In Colombia, human influenza closed this week on the rise, with a cumulative total of 160 dead and three thousand 174 infected since the disease broke out, said a report by the Ministry of Social Protection.

The progress of the H1N1 virus in 31 of the 32 departments on possible shot watchlist infected with Colombia at the head of the statistics with 69 deaths, 613 thousand and 60 thousand 800 infected cases reported on possible contagion.

The rise of the pandemic in Colombia, contrary to what occurs in other South American countries, led the Ministry of Social Welfare to provide care wards for acute respiratory diseases. In Venezuela, meanwhile, the Ministry of Health reported that as of yesterday a total of 114 people had died of H1N1 virus, with two thousand 382 cases positive from the onset of the pandemic. Vice Minister of Public Health Network, Mrs. Corado, told reporters that most of those who died went to the doctor after the fifth day of submitting the corresponding symptoms.

He said most cases have an underlying condition, which complicates the health of people, most of which presents cases of diabetes or obesity. The Venezuelan government recently announced it will buy five million vaccines against influenza A, which should arrive in the country in early 2010.

In Paraguay, treatment and combating the proliferation of dengue stole the government's priority, above human influenza, told Notimex a spokesman of the Ministry of Public Health. According to Vice Minister of the portfolio, Edgar Gimenez, so far 43 people have died A/H1N1 virus product, with a total of 920 infected and eight reported as "probable" infection.

The total number of notifications of dengue, therefore, add up to now 133, of which 57 have been confirmed, including one "imported" from Mexico. In Chile, moreover, the experts had ruled out going to cause a human influenza outbreak, fears emerged this month after 10 cases appeared after several weeks where there was no notification.

Authorities said all the new patients were infected abroad, which is why there is no possibility that the disease from spreading even more after they were considered family members and close contacts. According to the latest report by the Ministry of Health of Chile, pandemic influenza activity has remained low in recent days, with 12 thousand 258 cases confirmed H1N1 virus and 140 deaths.
In Argentina, meanwhile, authorities reported 218 cases from 11 thousand human influenza and 613 deaths, with an important disease in most provinces but with a "declining trend in respiratory disease activity. In Brazil, moreover, the most recent report by the Ministry of Health indicated that there have been 22 thousand 565 cases infected with human influenza viruses, of which 528 thousand died from the disease.
