Pneumonia kills 22

FENCING. Pneumonias are more aggressive than ever. In the first three weeks of the year, this disease has claimed the lives of 22 people, mostly older than 60 years (18 cases).

For these figures, which are double those reported last year (same period), the Executive Office of Epidemiology has declared an epidemiological alert the Arequipa region, until the lower incidence to average levels.

Establishments must acquire antibiotics (more than enough) for avoid a shortage, and it must require in advance of the Regional Directorate of Drugs ", said the head of Public Health Surveillance Epidemiology, Jorge Velarde.

Meanwhile, the head of Epidemiology, Patricia Polanco, (on a radio) explained that, at the first signs, people should go to health centers and not expect a worsening of the infection.
It recommended a healthy diet, and avoid self-medication. With respect to victims (over 60 years), Polanco said the grandparents are dying for lack of care, as families are neglected and do not have to make permanent checkups.
More cases. Diarrheal diseases (EDAS) also have an impact on these days, and while it made victims, extreme care in the home.
