First case of coronavirus in Peru occurred in a young man from Europe, confirms Mart?n Vizcarra
According to the President of the Republic, the first case of coronavirus was diagnosed in a 25-year-old man who was in Spain, France and the Czech Republic.
The President of the Republic, Mart?n Vizcarra, confirmed the first case of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Peru. In conference, the head of state indicated that it is a 25-year-old man who has been in Spain, France and the Czech Republic.
"Today I must report that in the early hours of the morning, the first case of COVID-19 coronavirus infection in our country has been confirmed in a 25-year-old male patient with a history of having been in Spain, France and the Czech Republic," Vizcarra reported.
“We have arranged all the necessary measures to face this kind of situation. The Minsa leads a strategy in Lima and throughout the country that articulates with the health sector, the Armed Forces and private institutions and clinics, ”said the president.
He indicated that a plan for preparing and responding to the disease has been prepared, and that protocols were activated at airports, as well as maritime terminals.
“All these measures have the support of the National Health Council. This is a situation that we must assume with great serenity, (…) we see calm, trust our health system, ”he said.
Yesterday, the Esmenaud Health Care Network reported that two patients were admitted to the Alfredo Piazza (Lince) health center and Guillermo Almenara Hospital (La Victoria) presenting fever, respiratory distress and other discomforts, being immediately evaluated by doctors on duty.
Essalud indicated that the established medical protocol has been followed and after the evaluation, the two patients, an adult woman and a man, received pharmacological treatment to control their ills, which they have been complying in their respective homes.
During Thursday night, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported that the presence of coronavirus has been ruled out in the 132 samples of possible cases of this disease that were analyzed. Of the total, 99 came from hospitals and health centers in Lima and Callao, while the most numerous cases in the provinces correspond to Cusco (9), Tacna (5), La Libertad (4), Arequipa (3), Lambayeque (2 ), Ucayali (2), Iquitos (2) and Huancayo (2). Meanwhile, San Mart?n, Cajamarca and Hu?nuco reported a probable case each.
It is worth remembering that the National Institute of Health of the Minsa is the only official and authorized entity for the processing of the samples and delivery of results in Peru and the Minsa is the official source of authorized information on coronavirus in the country, so that content circulating in social networks and other unofficial media should not be considered as true.
The Minsa recommends to the citizens the frequent washing of hands with soap and water, minimum 20 seconds; cover your nose and mouth with your forearm or tissue when you sneeze or cough; Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands and avoid direct contact with people with respiratory problems.
