COVID-19 Coronavirus Cases Increase to 635 in Peru
This was reported this Friday by President Mart?n Vizcarra at a press conference.
        March 27, 2020

The President of the Republic, Mart?n Vizcarra, announced this Friday that the number of people infected with the COVID-19 coronavirus in the country rose to 635, after processing samples for 10 065 people.

To date, there are 79 hospitalized patients with COVID-19, 21 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and of these, 19 with mechanical ventilation. Finally, 16 patients have been discharged.

        Lima accumulates to date 494 infected. The following regions also present patients with Covid-19: Loreto (23), Piura (20), Callao (17), Arequipa (15), Lambayeque (13), Jun?n (12), Cusco (10), La Libertad (09 ), Ancash (06), Tumbes (05), Hu?nuco (04), Ica (03), Madre de Dios (01), San Mart?n (01), Cajamarca (01) and Pasco (1).

It should be noted that, in order to contain and control the spread of COVID-19, the Government declared last March 15 a state of national emergency, via Supreme Decree 040-2020-PCM and effective for 15 calendar days. The norm stipulates the compulsory social isolation of the population, the closing of borders, the suspension of work activities in the public and private sectors (with exceptions), an extraordinary bonus for health personnel, the exceptional delivery of resources to low-income families. resources, among other measures.

As a complementary measure, last Wednesday President Vizcarra established the "mandatory social immobilization" at the national level, which will be in effect from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. during the state of emergency.

The head of state applied this measure because there are still citizens who resist complying with mandatory social isolation. He also announced that starting at 5 a.m. Private vehicles will no longer be able to circulate.

While on Thursday, March 26, the president ordered the extension of the state of national emergency until Sunday, April 12.

During the state of emergency, only staff from health centers, banks, pharmacies, taps, the media, telephone exchanges, supermarkets, markets, public cleaning, hotels and health centers may work in person, upon request for a special transit permit. accommodation. If this is not your case, you must work from home (telework).

For its part, the Minsa maintains control measures to protect the health of citizens and the National Institute of Health (INS), through its National Reference Laboratory for Respiratory Viruses, is ready to diagnose the new virus rapid in order to provide adequate treatment to patients. The INS is the only official and authorized entity for the processing of samples and delivery of results in Peru.

                      12:42 | Lima, Apr. 3.

President Martin Vizcarra on Friday afternoon confirmed that coronavirus (COVID-19) cases have increased to 1,595 in Peru —out of a total of 17,334 samples taken.

Thus, 15,739 citizens have tested negative.

Within this framework, the Head of State explained that 181 new cases have been reported if compared to the previous day. Thus, the current rate stands at 9% of the total samples.

Likewise, the top official stressed the fact that 627 citizens have already been discharged.

According to the statesman, the number of positive cases doubles every five days (slowly) because the Government has taken a series of measures to face the outbreak.

The only way to do it, Mr. Vizcarra said, is to try to prevent the mobility of citizens as much as possible.

"The virus does not move by itself, the COVID-19 needs people in order to move into another person and spread," he warned.

                      Facemasks

It must be noted the Government has issued a Supreme Decree, which provides that citizens shall use facemasks when they leave their homes and are in a public place, in order to reduce the risk of contagion of the COVID-19.
"The only security we have is our ability to adapt."

Peru reports 535 new cases of COVID-19, the largest increase in a single day

The Peruvian health authorities reported this Sunday 535 new cases of COVID-19, the largest increase in the disease in a single day since the epidemic began in the country, which has already caused a total of 2,281 patients and 83 deaths.

The previous report, which was offered this Saturday by President Mart?n Vizcarra, had reported 1,746 infected and 73 fatalities.

Vizcarra did not offer this Sunday his usual daily presentation on television with the latest data on the disease, but on Saturday he said that sampling will be increased to "have a broader picture and more information on the situation."

                          CASES ARE QUADRUPLICATED

The president has repeated in recent days that coronavirus cases will increase in the country given the upward curve that the disease has, something that is trying to mitigate with citizen isolation and the curfew ordered since last March 16.

Despite this, in the last hours the patient report almost quadrupled that of Saturday, when it reached 141 new cases, although the official figures for this Sunday indicated that the death rate reaches 3.64% in the country.

Of the total, 1,327 cases (58.18%) occur in men and 954 (41.82%) in women, while the majority are reported in adults, followed by older adults, young people, children and adolescents.

                          TOTAL QUARANTINE SUNDAY

During this day, the order to prevent the Sunday departure of the entire population from the streets was applied for the first time, even to make essential purchases.

To comply with the absolute restriction, combined police and military patrols were mobilized that, in many cases, traveled the streets of cities like Lima in armored vehicles.

Despite the restriction, local media reported incidents with people who left their homes on the grounds that they were looking for food or had to take their pets out, so they were detained and taken to the nearest police stations.

                          GOVERNMENT EVALUATES MEASURES

Meanwhile, official sources reported that President Vizcarra and his ministers are evaluating the evolution of the disease and the next measures that will be taken, especially before the end of the citizen quarantine, established for April 12.

The Defense Minister, Walter Martos, made a helicopter overflight over Lima and then pointed out that there was "general compliance" with the order of citizen immobilization.

The Peruvian Presidency confirmed that a new session of the Council of Ministers will be held on Monday and the president will resume his daily virtual press conference.

                          LIVING WITH VIRUSES

In turn, the Minister of Health, V?ctor Zamora, declared on the RPP Noticias station that "the virus has arrived in Peru and is going to stay a long time", so there will have to be an adaptation of citizens and customs " they are going to have to change. "

He advanced, in this sense, that he considers it unlikely that it will allow the opening of places with a large influx of public, such as bars, clubs or restaurants, and said that "perhaps" when you have a vaccine, part of the previous one daily life.

"We are going to go back and forth, we are going to explore little by little, like someone crossing a totally dark place, learning where to walk," he said before indicating that "the first time" of the fight against the disease is being won. , but now all progress must be maintained.

                          HIGHER RESTRICTIONS

The Peruvian government hardened this Thursday the measures of citizen isolation, by ordering that men and women circulate on different and alternate days until April 12, to try to further reduce the contagion curve of COVID-19.

In this sense, the circulation of men is done on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 5.00 to 18.00, when the curfew begins, and women go out on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, in all cases only to buy food, medicine and going to the banks.

Vizcarra announced this Saturday that the Navy has begun to produce, with the support of scientists and private companies in the country, an artificial respirator that will be used to assist the seriously ill of the epidemic.

He reiterated that the country is facing "a war with an invisible enemy, but that it is powerful", adding that it is also going to start producing masks for the use of the population "with the specifications that have been given that they can be reusable "
