    Minsal registered 450 cases of monkeypox in the country
    Currently, two of the cases are hospitalized for management of co-infections or cormobilities. Likewise, to date no deaths from the disease have been reported, while 89.6% reside in the Metropolitan Region.

    This day, the Ministry of Health reported a total of 450 confirmed cases of monkeypox in the country. According to the weekly report, as of September 1, 2022, 451 cases of the disease were registered (450 confirmed and 1 probable). Currently, two of the cases are hospitalized for management of co-infections or cormobilities.

    Also, to date no deaths from the disease have been reported.

    Of the total number of infections, 89.6% reside in the Metropolitan Region. Other regions that have presented cases are Antofagasta, Coquimbo, Valparaíso, O'Higgins, Maule, Ñuble, La Araucanía, Los Ríos, Los Lagos, all of them with between 1 to 12 cases.

    In this line, the cases presented with a median of 34 years, being the group between 30 and 39 years (n=231), the one that concentrated the largest number of cases.

    98.7% of the cases corresponded to men. The most frequent signs and symptoms are acute rash (99.5%), anogenital skin/mucosal lesions (68.7%), lymphadenopathy (56.7%), headache (53.2%), myalgia (53, 2%) and fever (50.2%).

      Chile records more than 700 cases of monkeypox. The Ministry of Health delivered a new weekly report on the disease, where it was realized that as of Wednesday, September 14, 730 confirmed and probable cases had been registered since the arrival of the virus last June.

      In detail, there are 728 confirmed cases and 2 probable ones. Of the total infections, 114 required hospitalization mainly for isolation purposes. Of those who were hospitalized, no one had to be admitted to Intensive Care Units (ICU). And so far no deaths have been reported from the zoonotic disease in Chile.

      According to the balance provided by the Minsal, the Metropolitan region concentrated 87.9% of the total cases nationwide. While the regions of Arica and Parinacota, Tarapacá, Atacama, O'Higgins, Maule, Ñuble, Biobío, Los Ríos and Los Lagos reported between 1 and 23 infections.

      At the age level, monkeypox has spread in people between 6 months and 72 years of age. The most susceptible group between 30 and 39 years; in fact, the median age of infection is 34 years.

      It should be noted that the most frequent symptoms are acute exanthema or rash (99.4% of cases), anogenital skin/mucous membrane lesions (67.5% of cases), lymphadenopathy (56.6%), myalgia (54 %), headache (52.7%) and fever (50.7%).

        The Metropolitan region concentrates the highest percentage of cases nationwide.

        The Ministry of Health reported that until last Thursday, September 22, 850 cases of monkeypox were reported in our country, between confirmed and probable.

        According to the health authority, of this total, 842 are confirmed cases, while 8 are probable carriers of the disease.

        On the other hand, it was detailed that of all the confirmed cases since June 17, at least 114 were hospitalized at some point, although none in Intensive Care Units (ICU), but rather for isolation purposes.

        The Metropolitan region concentrates 86.1% of the cases at the national level, according to region of residence, while currently, the Magallanes region is the only one that does not present cases.

        The cases were presented in an age range between 6 months and 72 years, with a median of 34 years, being the group between 30 and 39 years (419), the one that concentrated the largest number of cases, and 91 .3% of the cases correspond to men...

          According to the latest report, the age range was 6 months to 72 years, with a median of 34 years. To date, no deaths from the disease have been reported and the Metropolitan Region (RM) concentrated the highest percentage of infections with 85.3%.

          The Ministry of Health reported a total of 915 confirmed cases of monkeypox in the country. According to the weekly report, until September 29, 2022, 1,346 cases of the disease were registered, (915 confirmed and 11 probable). Currently, 428 remain in isolation and 498 have been discharged.

          To date, no deaths from the disease have been reported.

          In 15 of the 16 regions of the country, there were cases, where the Metropolitan Region (RM) concentrated the highest percentage with 85.3%, followed by the Region of Valparaíso, Coquimbo, Antofagasta, Biobío and Araucanía.

          Other regions that have presented cases were: O'Higgins, Maule, Ñuble, Biobío, Los Ríos, Los Lagos, Tarapacá, Atacama, Arica and Aysén.

          The commune of Santiago stood out for being the one that presented the largest number of cases (n=301).

          In this line, the age range was from 6 months to 72 years, with a median of 34 years. The group that concentrated the largest number of cases was between 30 and 39 years old (n=452), followed by (n=230). Regarding gender, 97.5% (n=903) of the cases corresponded to men and 1.8% were women (n=17).

          Regarding the clinical presentation, among signs and symptoms, 98.9% presented acute rash, 69.9% anogenital skin/mucous lesions, 55.7% lymphadenopathy, 53.3% myalgia, 53. 1% headache and 51.3% fever > 38.5°. Of the total cases, 71 are still under investigation to determine their symptoms.

According to the weekly report, up to October 20, 2022, 1,734 cases of the disease were registered (1,127 confirmed and 16 probable). In the last week, 12 new cases were confirmed, compared to the last report.

            Of the total cases, 571 were confirmed epidemiologically discharged, while 572 correspond to cases in a period of isolation.

            In 15 of the 16 regions of the country, there were cases, where the Metropolitan Region (RM) concentrated the highest percentage with 84.7%, followed by the Region of Valparaíso, Antofagasta, Coquimbo, Biobío and Araucanía.

Of the total cases, 59 are still under investigation to determine their symptoms.

              Minsal reports first death from monkey smallpox in Chile

              The Ministry of Health (Minsal) reported this Wednesday afternoon the first death from monkey smallpox in Chile.

              The portfolio only reported that it is an adult man who was diagnosed with the disease on September 29.

              "The patient had basic pathologies and a weakened immune system (immunosuppression)," they confirmed from the Government.

              Until this death, of the total deaths worldwide, 30 corresponded to America, according to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO): 12 in Brazil, 11 in the United States, four in Mexico, two in Ecuador and one in Cuba.

              With the last report, as of November 14, the Minsal detected another 35 cases of monkeypox in Chile, accumulating 1,243 confirmed, 649 patients discharged and 693 discarded.

              As of November 10, 98.3% of the cases corresponded to men, 53.9% of the cases self-reported with HIV, 11.4% with syphilis, 1.6% with gonorrhea and 2.3 % with other coinfections.

              Among the most frequent signs and symptoms, the Government detailed that 99.2% presented acute exanthema (skin eruptions), although there was also talk of anogenital skin or mucosa lesions, lymphadenopathy, fever over 38.5°C and headache...

                The Chilean Ministry of Health confirmed this Sunday the second death from monkey smallpox in the country and said that the deceased is a man with "basic pathologies and a weakened immune system." The victim, whose age is unknown and was not vaccinated, was diagnosed with the virus on October 20.

                The Health portfolio recalled in a statement that the main symptoms of the disease are "lesions on the skin or mucous membranes, particularly in the genital area, temperature above 38.5 degrees Celsius, swollen glands, headache, muscle aches and decay".

                Chile detected the first case of monkeypox on June 16 in a young man who had recently traveled to Europe and a few days later declared a health alert throughout the territory. "Post-exposure" vaccination began on October 19 and is available nationwide as part of the outbreak containment strategy...
