A soldier who had been part of the team that carried out the protocol for handling the sea lion that appeared days ago on the beach of Batteries was preventively isolated in a room at the Puerto Belgrano Naval Hospital.
According to the El Rosalenio portal, the man did not present symptoms compatible with the disease. However, the doctors decided to analyze his condition because he had been in the procedure with the animal and to await the results of examinations.​
The appearance of a specimen in poor condition led to a complaint to the health authorities and the preventive closure of Punta Ancla beach.
