The Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Nation, Juan José Bahillo confirmed a case of avian flu (H5N1) in Jujuy and declared a health emergency in the country. As they indicated, the case was confirmed by the Agrifood Health and Quality Service (Senasa) in a wild migratory bird, of the Huallata or Andean Goose species, which was found in said province.
The confirmation was made during a press conference held with authorities from the National Ministry of Health and Senasa, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, who also issued a series of prevention measures against avian influenza in birds. wild recorded in the region.
“The confirmation of the entry of the virus into the country puts us on alert but it does not surprise us. For some time now we have been working on the prevention of this virus, which unfortunately cannot be controlled due to the migration of birds", explained sources from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Nation, who indicated that it was detected in the Pozuelos lagoon, al northwest of the province of Jujuy, near the border with Bolivia.

It must be communicated that the probability of transmission in humans is low and if it occurs it is through the respiratory route or by contact with a dead bird or its secretions. That is why we recommend not touching or approaching birds that show symptoms or act strange or are dead."
