With these new infections, the number rose to 61, which is why the authorities decreed a state of emergency and total closure of all its borders; measures that take effect from this Friday, March 27 and will last until April 15.

Until Friday, March 27, Bolivia has 74 positive cases of coronavirus and Santa Cruz, the region most affected by the pandemic, officially entered phase 4 of contagion.

The director of the Departmental Health Service (Headquarters) of Santa Cruz, Marcelo R?os, reported this Friday that as a result of the detection of two new cases with coronavirus with no history in the contagion chain, that region of the country entered phase 4 of transmission.

“We are already in a phase of frank community transmission, which means phase four that we were announcing. We were talking about the imminence of phase four, we are now in phase four because we have tried to trace two confirmed cases so far this afternoon and we have not yet found the trace of the origin of the contagion, "said R?os.

According to the report of the Interior, 42 cases are registered in Santa Cruz, 26 of them local and 16 imported. A few hours ago, eight new positives were reported, two of them without a history of contagion, which makes the health authorities think that the transmission is already community-based.

The director of the headquarters explained that it will wait until this day to find the origin of the contagion of these new cases; If we do not find the trace "we will be officially in the community broadcast and in the imminence of a sustained broadcast, which is phase 5," he warned.

Of the 42 confirmed cases, 25 are women and 17 are men; 16 are imported and 26 are local; and eight are over 60 years old.

On a national scale, the curve is ascending and they have 74 infected.

Globally, the death rate from the virus reaches 4.7%. Until yesterday, the Government reported 107 positive cases of coronavirus in the country. Of that number, seven people died: three in La Paz and four in Santa Cruz.

Bolivia regrets its first seven deaths from the coronavirus since the virus entered the country. Taking into account the 107 positive cases made official by the Government and the seven deaths, the country reached a 6.5% death rate from Covid-19, according to official figures from the Ministry of Health issued until last night and today. by the Departmental Health Service (Headquarters) of Santa Cruz. Globally, the death rate is around 4.7%; however, that statistic varies between east and west.

The latest report from the Ministry of Health shows that, as of Monday night, Bolivia had 107 confirmed cases of people with coronavirus. Of this total, 59 are in Santa Cruz, 20 in Cochabamba, 14 in La Paz, eight in Oruro, three in Potos? and a separate case in Pando, Chuquisaca and Tarija.

Of the 107 patients infected with Covid-19, seven died. The last fatality was known today in Santa Cruz through the headquarters.

Taking these data into account, the death rate from the coronavirus reaches 6.5% in the country, rescuing official data as of today. The department of Santa Cruz concentrates 55% of coronavirus cases in Bolivia after the first confirmed case of the new virus was registered on March 10.

Globally, the figure reaches approximately 4.7%. The pandemic has almost 700,000 infected and more than 30,000 dead; however, the Covid-19 doesn't hit everyone the same. The mortality rate -measured based on the number of inhabitants- differs greatly according to the geographical area. East and West are dealing differently with the new coronavirus and that behavior would be closely linked to the impact on their populations.

For example, in Italy they are mourning 1,500 deaths for every ten million inhabitants, in China there are 20 deaths for every ten million citizens and in Japan, four for every ten million.
