    As of March 7, 2020, more than 360 confirmed and presumptive COVID-19 case have been reported from within the United States from 31 states and the District of Columbia as shown in the table below.

    Even with a shortage of test kits in the US, the number of of COVID-19 cases in the United States (US) is growing at an exponential rate over the past few days as shown in the graph below.

    As depicted in the map below these cases are widely scattered across the country. Some of them are imported cases, other resulted from international travel and many are now starting to occur because of community spread. These data show that the outbreak in the United States is not under control and that we can expected many more cases resulting from community spread in the near future.

    The total presented in the post above, does not include any of the 51 repatriated infected US citizen as noted by the CDC. From a preparedness standpoint, it is more important to know where cases are occurring than sensationalizing the total number of cases and emphasizing that more than 400 cases have been reported.
