Thats just a few to start the conversation- add your suggestions and ideas!

Wisdom enough to leech us of our ill
Is daily spun, but there exists no loom

      aluminum foil
      fever thermometers
      hand crank lanterns
      shake flashlights
      powdered gatorade
      crank grain mill
      water purifier
crayons, paper and playdoh (if you have kids)
      paper plates

I also bought a gross of little vinyl farm animals from UStoy.com, simple toys like that and the play doh are the best.

        CROSSWORD PUZZLE BOOKS
        KITTY LITTER
        EYE DROPS
        NAIL FILES
        FLY PAPER
        FOOTLONG MATCHES
SALT (the beans, rice and pasta need a lot of salt)

I went to a church sale and got 12 can openers for a nickel apiece. And another big box of old candles for $2. I'll give them to my neighbors if they need any.

Don't forget the lowly P-38 can opener. It was issued to the military in their
C-rations and K-rations. They are plentiful and fairly cheap. You can usually buy them at a military surplus store or order them online. I kept one on my key chain at work for years. People would laugh at me for keeping one. When they couldn't find the regular can opener, they always wanted to borrow my keys. I have at least a half dozen.
