Re: Childrens hidden fears of Bird Flu

Important to remember, also, is that children can be extemely resilient in circumstances of struggle, trauma, adversity. Oftentimes, their perceptions may accurately reflect what is occurring. As adults, and their caretakers though, we want to protect. And so we can become extremely anxious in knowing how or what to present to children. Listening to their conversations- hearing their real questions- can guide us in providing answers to the things they really want to know. And sometimes, that is all they really want to know. For children who are older, and process at a different level, again it is about communication. What are they really asking? What is it they feel they need answers to? Again, networking locally and otherwise, will provide essential supports for the parents and caretakers. And should this current situation escalate in the months ahead, there will be things for which even "us adults" will not have answers. It will be a different life experience.
