Significant drop in swine flu in Samoa

Posted at 19:04 on 27 August, 2009 UTC

The Ministry of Health in Samoa says there is a significant drop in the number of suspected H1N1 cases in the country.

In its latest health report, the Ministry says no H1N1 patient has been admitted to the isolation ward at the main Tupua Tamasese Mea?ole hospital.

It is also revealed that the number of people with flu symptoms seeking medical advice has decreased considerably since the peak in late July which saw more than ten thousand flu patients being seen at special swine flu clinics.

However, the health ministry says it is also a likely indication that sick people are adhering to advice to stay home and only seek medical assistance if their symptoms get worse.

Meanwhile, the number of confirmed swine flu cases in Samoa has reached 138 with only two deaths.
