Sunday, May 03, 2009
The Minister for Women Dr Jiko Luveni is calling upon all women in Fiji not take lightly the warning by Ministry of Health, about the possible pandemic of Influenza A H1N1, formerly known as the swine flu.
Dr Luveni says women as caretakers of the families must be alert to the symptoms of this new virus.
The symptoms are fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills, vomiting, diarrhoea and fatigue.
Women Dr Luveni says, are most vulnerable to outbreaks such as this because of the work that they normally do.
The WHO has warned of a possible pandemic, but she says there is no need to panic.
Dr Luveni says she is confident the Health Ministry has the capacity and capability to prevent an outbreak in Fiji.
