    Australia (18 cases confirmed)

    1. Male, 25 yrs. Died June 19th. Believed to be Aborigine. He'd been transferred to Adelaide from Alice Springs Hospital on Monday (June 15th?). He had unspecified medical conditions. Here and Here

    2. Anthony Splatt, male, 35 yrs. Died June 20th. "He was admitted to the Colac Hospital with flu-like symptoms on Friday" (June 19th). His mom, a nurse said, ""Anthony appeared to have an ordinary common cold with the usual symptoms,...But he became "sicker and sicker" during a wait to find an intensive care hospital bed, which they said took three hours." His parent, parents "Brian and Judith last night described their son as a "gentle giant", who had battled obesity and type-2 diabetes." Death first reported June 23rd. Here

    3. Female, 50 yrs. Died/reported on 6/24. She was a cancer patient in Victoria. Here

    4. Female, 70 yrs. Reported on 6/26. Victoria woman whos medical history is unvailable due to family's request. Here

    5. Female, 26 yrs. Reported, 6/26. Died in Royal Perth Hospital. Had underlying medical conditions. Here" A 26-year-old woman from the remote WA Aboriginal community of Kiwirrkurra west of Alice Springs also died after contracting the virus." See post #3 Here

    6. Male, 50 yrs. Reported 6/29. He "was being treated for a life-threatening cancer and was later diagnosed with H1N1 Influenza 09. He died while receiving treatment in hospital." Here

    7. Male, 85 yrs. Reported 6/29. He "had a range of underlying medical conditions and was being treated in hospital. These pre-existing conditions made him more susceptible to any influenza-like illnesses." Here

    8. Male, 68 yrs. Reported 7/1. "The man was being treated for a life-threatening cancer and was later diagnosed. He died while receiving treatment in hospital (in Victoria)." Here

    10. Male, 45 yrs. Died 6/29. Reported 7/2. A "man with underlying medical conditions who died in a western Sydney hospital on Monday tested positive for swine flu. "We are waiting on formal findings from the coroner to determine the degree to which H1N1 may have contributed to the death," Here

    11. Male, 57. Died 7/3. Reported 7/7. "Authorities in New South Wales said a 57-year-old man died on Friday in a Sydney hospital, but state chief health officer Kerry Chant said the man suffered pre-existing medical problems, including diabetes." Here

    12 Ian "Morrie" Morris, Male, early 50's. Reported 7/7. Died 7/6, "after spending two days in Royal Darwin Hospital's intensive care unit...It is understood Mr Morris was taken to RDH on Saturday by ambulance. Hospital general manager Dr Len Notaras said the patient arrived with symptoms of flu-like illness, and was later diagnosed with swine flu." Dr Notaras said he deteriorated over two days. He said the death was a combined result of swine flu and other health issues, but declined to give further details." Here

    13. Female, 85 yrs. Reported 7/7. "...died in the Royal Hobart Hospital yesterday(7/6) after being admitted on Sunday(7/5). The woman, from the state's south (in Tasmania), had a chronic underlying lung condition." Here

    14. Male, 27 yrs. Reported 7/8. Died in NSW. He "was suffering multiple underlying medical conditions, died on July 4 at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle with H1N1 influenza." See post #6 Here

    15. Male, 68 yrs. Reported 7/8. Died in a Melbourne hospital. Had underlying conditions. Here

    1. Male, 42 yrs. Reported 3/July "...died on Thursday 2/July in Christchurch." Was a smoker. Here with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Here

    2. 28/June July Zachary Wilson, Male 19 yrs. "Of Hamilton. He "had been ill for three or four days but had not been to hospital before he died last Sunday, said Waikato District Health Board medical officer of health Dr Felicity Dumble. "What's become apparent with this situation is how quickly this can develop, and somebody can present with what looks like a common cold that may progress to more like influenza and then it can rapidly become something very serious." Some efforts were made to treat Mr Wilson's symptoms, although no further details were made available...he had a history of asthma which, along with other factors such as diabetes and cardiovascular conditions, was more likely to cause complications."Here. died at his father's home just over a week ago without knowing he had contracted swine flu.

    4. Brian Te Whiti Harmer, Male, 45/46 yrs. Reported 8/July. Died 1/July.(Blenheim) "He died at home in early last Wednesday...had pre-existing health problems, including asthma, sleep aponea,, obesity, and had not seen a doctor for some time."     5. Male, 48/49. Reported 8/July. He "had a history of asthma, died at his home between 4 and 5 July" He was from Christchurch. Here

    6. Female. Reported 8/July. "two patients who were in Middlemore Hospital's intensive care unit." underlying health problems Auckland Here. Here

    8. 79-year-old woman died in the Hutt Valley last week, underlying health conditions., bringing the total number of confirmed deaths to nine Here
