Muscat: Four new cases of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) have been detected in Oman, according to Shabiba newspaper.
The patients who were diagnosed with the viral respiratory disease are undergoing medical treatment.
The Ministry of Health has so far reported 18 confirmed cases across Oman since 2013.
It issued a statement stressing strenuous efforts are on to monitor and control the disease through epidemiological surveillance system.
The statement called on citizens and residents to comply with preventive measures to control infection and to maintain hygiene when sneezing and coughing.
