S. Korea suspects soldier has MERS, quarantines dozens of troops
The Defense Ministry, meanwhile, said one serviceman in the central city of Gyeryong recently contacted his mother, who has been infected with the MERS virus, noting military authorities have quarantined some 30 other soldiers who live in the same barracks.
"The private first class just reported that he spent time together with his mother while being on a leave earlier this month," said an official. "A blood test is under way, though we see a low chance for him to be infected, factoring in the fact that he shows no symptoms."
