Jordan records coronavirus case of national coming from Saudi Arabia
Amman -- A new Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) case has been recorded for a man who has recently come from Saudi Arabia, the country where most cases of this disease are reported.
The man, who is in his 60s, was admitted to a private hospital suffering from breathing difficulty, coughing and fever, the ministry of health said. He was diagnosed to have the Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) and he is now in critical condition, the ministry added.
Since 2012, 13 MERS cases have been recorded in Jordan, according to official data.
Amman, August 25 (Petra) -- A new Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) case has been recorded for a man who has recently come from Saudi Arabia, the country where most cases of this disease are reported.
The man, who is in his 60s, was admitted to a private hospital suffering from breathing difficulty, coughing and fever, the ministry of health said. He was diagnosed to have the Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) and he is now in critical condition, the ministry added.
Since 2012, 13 MERS cases have been recorded in Jordan, according to official data.
There have been 17 coronavirus MERS cases that have originated in Jordan:
1) #1 - Woman, 45, disease event date April 2012, hospital health care worker Death
2) #2 - Man, 25, brother of case #1, disease event date April 2012Death
3) #51 - Man, 45, travel history to Jordan, hospitalized in Italy in good condition
4) #184 - Man, 48, onset date December 31, hospitalized January 9, died January 23 Death
5) #239 - Man, 52, onset March 25, treated in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, hospitalized 2 April in stable condition. Jordan
6) #457 - Patient, who is a healthcare worker, had come in contact of case #333, a Saudi patient who had tested positive for coronavirus last week. - Jordan
7)#510 - Man, 56, health care worker, announced by Jordan government media - Amman, Jordan Death
8) #571 - Man, 50s, working at a private hospital and was one of a cadre that was treating an infected person (probably case #333) at the hospital. Jordan
9-15) #606-612 - Seven previously unconfirmed individuals tested positive for anti-MERS-CoV antibodies by at least two of three serologic tests. MoH of Jordan is first author of this paper and therefore, this data is MoH approved - Jordan
16) #678 - Man, 69, nosocomial infection, comorbidities, hospitalized in ICU - Amman, Jordan Deathnote
17) #814 - Man, 26, health-care worker, onset 23 May, hospitalized on 30 May, tested positive on 31 May. He is currently in a stable condition, contact of case #571 - Amman, Jordan
