    Daily Report of (MERS-CoV) Cases

    As of 12 pm Local Time in Makkah on Friday, May 16th, 2014 corresponding to Rajab 17th, 1435H

    • Total number of confirmed cases in last 24 hours: 6 cases
    • Earlier confirme cases now Recovered and discharged: 3 cases
    • Total number of deaths: 3 cases (1 case was recorded over the past 24 hours and the other 2 are from previously confirmed cases)

    Overview of the Health Status of the Cases:
    • 3 stable cases
    • 1 case without symptoms
    • 1 critical case at the ICU
    • 1 death

    Cases Details:
    • Cases in Riyadh:
      • 1) boy, 11-year-old, suffering from a brain tumor. He was admitted on January 17th, 2014 to a government hospital due to his brain tumor. He developed respiratory symptoms on May 14th, 2014. His condition is stable.
      • 2) man, 28-year-old, does not have any symptoms and is isolated in a government hospital.

    • Cases in Jeddah:
      • 1) man, 80-year-old, suffering from Diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease. He developed respiratory symptoms on May 8th, 2014 and was admitted to a private hospital on May 10th, 2014. He is currently in ICU.
      • 2) woman, 35-year-old, developed fever and diarrhea on May 13th, 2014. She was admitted to a government hospital in Makkah on May 15th, 2014. Then, she was transferred to a government hospital in Jeddah. Her condition is stable. She has been in contact with a confirmed case.

    • Cases in Taif:
      • 1) woman, 67-year-old, suffering from Diabetes, high blood pressure and has a history of convulsion. She developed fever, shortness of breath and fainted on April 28th, 2014. She was admitted to a government hospital on May 12th, 2014. She passed away on May 15th, 2014.
      • 2) woman, 48-year-old, suffering from high blood pressure, heart disease and chronic renal failure. She developed respiratory symptoms on May 10th, 2014. She was admitted to a government hospital on May 13th, 2014. Her condition is stable.

    Deaths from previously reported cases:
    • woman, 53-year-old, admitted to a private hospital in Jeddah and her case was reported on May 14th, 2014. She passed away on May 15th, 2014.
    • woman, 57-year-old, admitted to a government hospital in Riyadh and her case was reported on May 5th, 2014. She passed away on May 16th, 2014.

    Recovered and discharged cases that previously tested positive and are now negative:
    • woman, 42-year-old, from Makkah. Her latest tests were negative for MERS Corona virus on May 15th, 2014.
    • man, 28-year-old, discharged from a private hospital in Riyadh on May 15th, 2014.
    • woman, 31-year-old, discharged from a private hospital in Riyadh on May 15th, 2014.
