Novel Coronavirus in Italy ? Laboratory investigation update
Bio-molecular tests for MERS-CoV identification have been performed on clinical samples collected from more than 50 close contacts of the confirmed cases - currently under surveillance.
All samples sent to ISS tested negative in the assays performed.
It remains currently not confirmed the hypothesis of an infection in the asymptomatic individuals.
Clinical follow-up of the close contacts continues and so far no sign of the disease has been detected.
