Jalisco yesterday the third death caused by influenza type A-H1N1: the child's Francisco Javier Moreno S?nchez, who was from the internal last April 19 at the Hospital Civil de Guadalajara Juan I. Menchaca was one of the first cases of Jalisco, despite her diagnosis took weeks.

Just on Friday (Public, June 13), the Department of Health Jalisco (SSJ) had made a public statement to deny a child of ten years has been the victim of medical malpractice. With that, the agency tried to defend his conduct after accepting that the child's family soon learned that Francis, in fact, suffered by influenza A-H1N1, the virus mutant that led to a pandemic and that a health alert remains in several areas of Mexico, including Jalisco. As the child was one of the first cases, the Institute of Epidemiological Diagnosis and Reference (Indre), the federal government was slow to issue a confirmatory diagnosis.

Francisco died yesterday at 15:40 hours Saturday after spending a month and 24 days in hospital, according to the Civil Hospital yesterday in a statement, "for serious complications and sequelae introduced as a result of a severe pneumonia, a source of income Hospital registered last April 19. " He explained that the little one suffered multiple organ failures, as a consequence of a serious complication caused by their lung function fibrosis that was created, in turn, by pneumonia.

In the communiqu? issued yesterday, the Civil Hospital with details describing the evolution of the child. Said that he was the April 19, but his medical history that had presented symptoms of respiratory problems since April 11. On admission, he was diagnosed with pneumonia, in principle operated as of bacterial origin.

The April 23 national alert was issued by the influenza A-H1N1 and Francisco came to be considered a probable case. Was reported to the Committee on Epidemiology of Civil, he took samples to test for immunofluorescence influenza type A and, as the results came in, he tried anyway, with the antiviral oseltamivir (Tamiflu), despite that this review was negative. Fifteen days later, in May, and completed the treatment with Tamiflu, came the diagnosis of Indre: positive.

On Friday 12, when the SSJ reported on the plight of Francisco, the secretary and the director of Public Health explained that the child suffered from a bacterial infection, and noted that "from the beginning" he had been treated as a probable case.

          384 confirmed

Before reporting the death of Francisco Moreno, the local health authorities had reported yesterday that the number of cases of influenza in Mexico rose to 384, after it was confirmed that 19 samples were positive at the Institute of Epidemiological Diagnosis and Reference (Indre), the federal government

Guadalajara .- Two different review the medical records of childcare Francisco Moreno Sanchez, who died on Saturday and became the third person killed by influenza A-H1N1 in the state.

After announcing that the death of a child is officially the third Francisco by influenza A-H1N1 that is registered in Jalisco, the state Department of Health (SSJ) reported that their medical record will be sent to the National Medical Arbitration Commission (CONAMA) to This determines whether the management was a minor at the Hospital Civil de Guadalajara Juan I. Menchaca was adequate or whether it fell into neglect.

The State Human Rights Commission of Mexico (CEDHJ) will also, on the other hand, a case review (see separate article).

"So far [shortly after 14:00 pm yesterday] adds a new death ... the child who unfortunately died in the New Civil Hospital. Therefore, in the state of Jalisco are added to three deaths confirmed influenza type A-H1N1, "he said yesterday the general director of Public Health, Elizabeth Ulloa Robles.

Francisco, ten years old, was of 54 days at the Hospital Civil de Guadalajara Juan I. Menchaca (called the New Civil Hospital). During the first week, the doctors ignored the origin of their atypical pneumonia. Received Tamiflu (oseltamivir), the recommended antiviral for the treatment of influenza A-H1N1, eight days after his admission to that hospital on April 19 and not within the first 48 hours, which is ideally confirmed Ulloa Robles at a press conference.

The interviewee indicated that she personally delivered the antiviral drug to the physician assistant director of the Hospital Civil Juan I. Menchaca on April 26, once the holder of the SSJ, Alfonso Guti?rrez Carranza, arrived in Guadalajara with the lot he received from the federal Health Ministry. That night Ulloa Tamiflu distributed to three hospitals in which case "highly suspicious" of the new disease. Not yet confirmed any. The hospital reported that the child received Tamiflu since April 25. The truth is that his diagnosis was confirmed on May 9, a day after the extension of restrictions of fun twists and schools, confirmed the director of the Epidemiology of SSJ, Lucia Salazar Montes.

Inquired about whether the administration of Tamiflu was late, Montes Salazar replied that April 19 was not yet known the cause of the epidemic "and that indeed is the reason for considering such an important number of deaths that occurred during the first few weeks ... not determined the cause. "

Ulloa Robles added: "If you do not know that the disease exists, it is impossible for a treatment of what you do not know" and believed that what cost the life of Francis was "the complication of the disease itself and the basic A-H1N1 infection, "which was recorded in four cases the death certificate.

The death of the child Francisco, last Saturday June 13, adds to the deaths of two adult females, 12 and May 26 last, respectively. Eleven cases were dismissed, even so, they will be subject to the study of Coname, two deaths were caused by influenza A or seasonal, and is awaiting the outcome of two other deaths.
CONAMA will assess each case and determine "whether there are medical liability, if there was good care, if appropriate, if it was not appropriate," said Ulloa.

Until yesterday stood at 384 the number of cases of influenza A-H1N1 confirmed in Jalisco and in the 597 influenza A or seasonal. Salazar added that Villa Guerrero Montes, north of the state, and Ixtlahuac?n, neighboring Zapopan, joined the list of cases of influenza A-H1N1, which reaches 33 municipalities. Yesterday, we reported 17 hospitalized, one of them as serious.
