The second wave of influenza A H1N1 killed three people in the last five days and is projected up to 40 people killed in the ensuing weeks and a thousand 500 new patients, said Armando Perez Cabrera, director of Health. To date, ten people died and 521 cases are confirmed in Guanajuato.
Meanwhile Secretary of Education Guanajuato (SEG), Alberto Diosdado reported that there are 60 students with symptoms of influenza A H1N1, in ten schools in the municipalities of Guanajuato, Irapuato and Salamanca. However, no provision for suspension of classes.
The owner of the SEC said the agency has no money for the purchase of "health kits" that require eleven thousand 52 schools to prevent HIV transmission.
The education sector needs 6 million dollars to purchase school kits to 15 days, consisting of antibacterial gel, soap, paper towels, but intends to implement the protective measures at the campus from next week.
"We would expect the Secretary of Health and the Ministry of Education strengthen support us at any given time, if you require any additional budget for this bill," confided the official.
But the state's health director, Armando Perez Cabrera said that the unit has no budget to acquire the "school kits". "These decisions are taken to another level depends on the budgets of each institution," he said.
In contrast, the health official reiterated that prevention is the best option for preventing influenza H1N1. In this regard said that 600 thousand Guanajuato receive the vaccine against the disease.
