MEXICO CITY, Feb. 11. - To date, more than 139 people were infected with influenza virus A H1N1 during the last week of the winter season, the report of the Health Ministry (SSA).

The epidemiological monitoring report indicated that 3 to 9 February 978 people were infected, so the sum total of positive cases three thousand 522, and 81 deaths due to complications from the respiratory disease.

The data reveal that the three types of influenza accumulate three thousand 882 cases, of which the predominant virus is H1N1, with three thousand 522, ie 91 percent of all three strains.

However, the federal agency noted that the proportion of samples testing positive for influenza virus have declined over the past two weeks, as per thousand visits for influenza-like illness, there were only 10 cases in the fourth week of 2012.

Thus, the alarm indicator remains below indicating epidemiological surveillance, although the SSA failed to note that the drastic drop in temperature in the country during the previous week could increase again the number of visits for this illness and the number of cases.

In a statement, said that "the proportion of samples that test positive for influenza A virus has fallen 33 percent over the past two weeks," so the light is green.

The epidemiological report indicates that total deaths are 89 different types of influenza viruses, of which 81 were for H1N1, while the other eight deaths were due to H3N2 and influenza B.

The frequency of acute respiratory infections typically increases during the cold season. So far in 2012 are recorded over two million 700 thousand visits for acute respiratory infections and 16 000 551 cases of pneumonia and bronchopneumonia.

The same report indicates that the SSA since the beginning of the season until February 10, 41 deaths have occurred for various reasons associated with the winter season, as carbon monoxide poisoning, hypothermia and burns.

Of those 41 deaths, were 21 in Chihuahua, Durango 6, Sonora 4, Hidalgo 2, Baja California 3, while in Nuevo Leon, Coahuila, Guanajuato, Puebla and Jalisco had one in each state.
