MEXICO CITY (18/JUL/2010) .- The emergency caused by the influenza A virus H1N1 was behind, but health security measures remained in the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).

Victor Hugo Borja, coordinator of Epidemiological Surveillance and contingency of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), reported that the filters in the hospitals of the institution, through which limits the number of family members visiting their patients will continue to apply.

As part of the measures also include filters that remain settled in the nursery through that sick children are detected and prevented the entry to prevent contagion.

The official said the H1N1 test served to "prepare for a major epidemic such as the avian influenza virus."

He said that 40% of the Mexican population has antibodies to the virus and influenza A H1N1 either because they were infected or because they were vaccinated.

He said that despite the lifting of an epidemiological alert for influenza virus surveillance is maintained in all medical units of IMSS.

The official noted that all patients admitted for pneumonia in hospitals are exempted from one test to confirm or exclude influenza virus.

Victo Hugo Borja said a few weeks here have gone down with influenza cases and the number of deaths.

The measures that were established from the health emergency, including the income limit people to certain areas of hospitals, the specialist said that some decisions will stay because they have worked and have led to fewer cases of other diseases.
