Confirmed 491 cases and 28 deaths due to influenza
In the current season of influenza, 491 cases and 28 deaths have been confirmed, and the AH1N1 virus is the one that has prevailed so far, according to the weekly report of the General Directorate of Epidemiology (DGE) of the Ministry of Health. Of the total cases registered from week 40 to 46 this year, 378 (77 percent) cases positive for influenza were for the subtype of virus A (H1N1), 76 for B, 28 for influenza A and nine for A ( H3N2). The entities with the highest number of confirmed cases are: Veracruz, Guerrero, Chiapas, Sinaloa and Oaxaca; that altogether they add 51.9 percent of the total.
While of the 28 deaths that have been reported, 23 were for A (H1N1), three for influenza A and two for B. The states with the highest number of deaths are: Veracruz, Tabasco, Sonora, Chiapas and Sinaloa, which together make up 64.3 percent. When comparing the behavior of reported deaths, this is the highest number for the same period, from 2010 to date.
