The AH1N1 will soon be just a seasonal virus, estimates Mexico
    12-January-2010
The influenza virus A (H1N1) have a moderate increase in Mexico over the next two months and then become a seasonal virus, said the secretary (minister) of Health, Jose Cordova Villalobos μngel.

The problem is strictly controlled, said the official, who was first to announce to the world on 23 April 2009 the detection of new viruses, which then would spread like a pandemic.

This virus is here to stay, I believe that each day will be less important, he said in a meeting with foreign correspondents, which were vaccinated against H1N1 twenty journalists.

Cordova said the most likely H1N1 did not originate in Mexico, despite the fame he gained a five years of the community of La Gloria, in the eastern state of Veracruz, as alleged Patient Zero.

It was not the child's case of Veracruz, the first case in our country, let alone in the world, the official said.

He recalled that the United States had previously studied two cases of atypical children in California Valley, also in 1996 that others had been detected. Where to begin? It is very risky (say), he said.

Mexico has had since the beginning of the pandemic until yesterday about 901 deaths and 69,071 infections by March expects to complete the vaccination of 30 million patients at risk such as pregnant women, health workers and people with morbid obesity.

My goal is that by March we may reach 80 percent of the 30 million or 24 million reach, Cordova said.

If we get this vaccination, it is likely that this virus is a virus and become usual, as a seasonal virus, the next winter (northern hemisphere), we can raise the alarm in late March and which is within the common diseases .

Until last weekend received 12 million doses, which are in the process of distribution. Of the two million doses already distributed, we applied some 800,000.

Progress has been between 45 and 50 per cent of vaccines distributed, he said.

Fortunately, despite this global campaign has been negative, which has discouraged many people to be vaccinated, in Mexico we did a survey 86 percent of Mexicans do have confidence in the vaccine, the official said.

Canada supported Mexico with a loan of five million vaccines to advance its implementation, that Mexico will return in March, and it is expected that next year there and a single vaccine that will cover both seasonal influenza as the A (H1N1).

What we expect in terms of behavior is that next year there is only one vaccine is included where H1N1, Cordova said. This will simplify and to cheapen things.

Mexico purchased 20 million doses of seasonal influenza to 4.5 euros each, plus 30 million against the H1N1, at a cost of four dollars per vaccine for the current winter season.

    Jan.12 , Cordova :
    > *** will have a moderate increase in Mexico over the next two months and then
    > become a seasonal virus
    > the most likely H1N1 did not originate in Mexico

depends where you put the origin, how you define "originated".
So, this sounds biased to me. He doesn't want it to have "originated"
in Mexico and that's why he says it. No quote of scientific evidence.

    > the United States had previously studied two cases of atypical children in California Valley,

which however were farther away from the origin. So, do we trust Cordova ?

    > also in 1996 that others had been detected.

    what ? Show them.

    > Where to begin? It is very risky (say), he said.

yes, he can always say he defined origin differently if e.g. the smoking pig is acknowledged/found

    and if not, then also.
