Health Secretary Jose Angel Cordova said the death toll from influenza A-H1N1 reached 263 people, but commented that this number could be 300 because of late reports from the states of the Republic.
"Right now we have 263 registered but there are 300 likely to be confirmed in a few days ... there is a state where the clerk told me it was like 20 (deaths) and figures that we had 10, what happens is that send the files later, "the federal official said after opening a health week at the Club Deportivo Chapultepec.
Cordova Villalobos asked doctors with patients with flu symptoms or risk factors such as pregnancy, chronic illness or children under five years which are prescribed some antiviral and not wait to confirm the diagnosis through laboratory testing.
"There's no evidence to be making right and left nor rapid tests. If the patient has flu symptoms and risk factors should be treated," he warned.
However, the holder of health recommended that doctors in the private sector if they are not sure that it is a bacterial infection "for any cause prescribed antibiotics, it is the worst."
"We have to be more analytical ... if you have risk factors or have questions, give (medicine) symptomatic, without antibiotics and see Him the next day, he said.
