Mexico, DF-Before the outbreak of influenza, phone calls to doctors have increased considerably, to request application of the vaccine against this evil, which at this time "might not be effective because we are perhaps at a mutant virus.

Pediatricians and specialists in asthma and allergies reported that during the day have received over 50 phone calls from parents worried about their children's health.

The answer is that it is now difficult to find the available biological and who have advised patients who are not guaranteed a 100 percent effective because the virus may be present other than it was in late 2008.

In an interview, the pediatrician Rogelio Tapia Nava, said that "the vaccine we have now been scheduled for October, November and December, but we are in an unusual flu season and I'm sure of is whether it will be useful 2008 annual vaccine. "

He explained that the parents are advised not to go to crowded places, no greeting, hand or kiss, not sharing eating utensils, no food and not share with sick people, in addition to consuming plenty of fluids, fruits and vegetables, and wash their hands often.

He added that those who insist on the application of the vaccine were reported not offered protection to 100 per cent and the average cost is between 200 and 250 pesos and does not rule out that with little medical ethics "exploit the situation, and if they have The vaccine offered to double or triple their price. "

The director of the Asthma and Allergy Center of Mexico, Carlos Leon Ramirez agreed that during this Friday and then that the authorities take preventive measures to avoid contracting influenza in schools, has received over 50 phone calls parent distress.

"All the calls were from parents concerned about their children, calls and consultations is not what is basically asking for increased influenza vaccine," he said.

For your consideration, "if the vaccine could offer some protection until it is found that a mutant virus, but unfortunately at the moment we have not succeeded with distributors because they have few vaccines are being sold to the government."

The specialist said that currently the best protection is to avoid infection, and therefore recommended not to attend malls, cinemas, theaters or other public place closed.

Don't know. Maybe they have some leftovers from the 1976 swine influenza scare, but whether that would be effective now, no idea. I wonder if the pharma industry is going work overtime this weekend to start making a new vaccine...
