Cuba reported isolated cases of influenza A (H1N1)

September 3, 2010, 6:55 Havana, Sep 3 (Prensa Latina) Cuba reported isolated cases of patients with influenza A (H1N1), said the member of the National Group of Respiratory Diseases, Ministry of Public Health Antonio Marrero cited media today.
At present, the virus causing the influenza A (H1N1) has a very low circulation in the country, explained the physician told the newspaper Granma that amplifies without clarifying the number of affected.
As raised by the World Health Organization (WTO), the world is now in the Post-pandemic period in which the A (H1N1) remains in circulation as part of seasonal influenza, mingling with other flu viruses, he added.
Since the epidemic broke out in April last year in Mexico and the United States and spread as a pandemic to the world, on the Caribbean island sickened hundreds and killed 69, according to official data.
Marrero called for measures against any flu care, especially in vulnerable groups like children, the elderly and pregnant women, for influenza and pneumonia are among the five leading causes of death in the country.
