    CANCUN (AP) - Mexico fears the H5N1 strain of influenza A virus already detected in Asia and Europe, because she has a high degree of aggressiveness and lethality, "said Health Secretary Jose Angel Cordova.

    A principios de esta semana la Comisión Europea alertó sobre la aparición de un brote de gripe AH5N1 en las aves de una granja de la población rumana de Letea, ubicada cerca de la frontera con Ucrania .

    Respecto a la situación sobre la gripe AH1N1 en México, el ministro explicó que ya se han aplicado más de 14 millones de vacunas entre grupos vulnerables mediante el programa de vacunación, el cual está a 8 semanas de concluir.

    Afirmó que, a partir de una revisión sanitaria en todo el país se decidirá si se puede levantar la alerta sanitaria en abril o mayo, aunque aclaró que se mantendrá la vigilancia ante las nuevas variantes del virus.

        Yesterday was officially confirms first bird flu outbreak in the last 12 months, in Letea, Tulcea County.

          It seems a bit premature to state that another pandemic will arise soon, since the history is teaching us that a such event has not happened - at least since the start of the bacteriology and epidemiology studies in XIX century -: we should have around a decade, if the 1889/90 pandemic was followed by another in 1900 and 1918...

          But we must remain with the eyes well opened...
