    Positive cases of coronavirus exceed 16 thousand in the Dominican Republic; 485 deceased

    In the last 24 hours, 345 positive cases of COVID-19 and 11 deaths were registered, for a cumulative of 16,068 infected people and 485 deaths nationwide.

    While 8,952 people received the medical discharge, according to bulletin # 70 issued by the Ministry of Public Health this Thursday, May 28.

    The case fatality rate continues to decline and today stands at 3.02%.

    Regarding the suspected cases, the Ministry of Health reported that 58,544 cases have been discarded, using PCR tests, out of a total of 74,612 that have been carried out since they detected the virus in the country on March 1.


    Positive cases

    Of the patients positive for respiratory infection, 2,173 are in hospital isolation, while 4,458 are in home isolation.

    Of the hospitalized, 111 are in the Intensive Care Unit; 54.95% in centers of Greater Santo Domingo, 33.33% in Santiago and 3.60% in Duarte.

    The Santo Domingo province became today the demarcation with the most infected, displacing the National District that since the beginning of the pandemic was listed as number one among the five most affected.

    However, by place of residence, the majority of the deaths have been registered in the Duarte province, which has a cumulative of 84 (0 new in the last 24 hours), 82 in the province of Santo Domingo (4 new), 74 in the National District (2 new), 73 in Santiago (2 new), 28 in La Vega (1 new) and 23 in Puerto Plata (1 new).

    Nationally, 69.69% (338) of the deaths corresponded to men, with the mean age being 65 years. As a history of morbidity, arterial hypertension was identified in 26.80% of patients and diabetes in 22.68%.

      In the last 24 hours, 463 positive cases of COVID-19 and three deaths were registered, for a cumulative of 16,531 infected people and 488 deaths nationwide.

      Regarding the suspected cases, the Ministry of Health reported that 60,399 cases have been discarded, using PCR tests, out of a total of 76,930 that have been carried out since they detected the virus in the country on March 1.

      Positive cases

      Of the patients positive for respiratory infection, 2,194 are in hospital isolation, while 4,583 are in home isolation.

      Of the hospitalized, 106 are in the Intensive Care Unit; 53.77% in centers of Greater Santo Domingo, 34.91% in Santiago and 1.89% in Duarte.

      Most of the cases confirmed by coronavirus are distributed in five provinces, with Santo Domingo being the most affected district with a cumulative figure of 4,322 cases (174 new in the last 24 hours), followed by the National District, which registers 4,268 cases (133 new) , Santiago with 1,434 (18 new ones), San Crist?bal with 950 (40 new ones), and La Vega with 889 (2 new ones).

                                The data is contained in epidemiological bulletin # 85 issued this Friday, June 12 by the Ministry of Public Health, which also numbers 12,754 people who received a medical discharge after passing COVID-19.

                                The number of active cases amounts to 8,686. Regarding health workers, the authorities reported that there are 219 infected, of which 64.84% (142) correspond to the female sex.

                                The case fatality rate continues to decline and today stands at 2.58%.

                                The bulletin also establishes that 83,008 cases have been discarded, through 105,016 PCR tests that have been carried out since the virus was detected in the country on March 1.

                                Positive cases

                                Of the patients positive for respiratory infection, 2,835 are in hospital isolation, while 5,851 are in home isolation.

                                114 are in the Intensive Care Unit; 57.26% in centers of Greater Santo Domingo, 32.26% in Santiago and 5.65% in Duarte.

                                Most of the cases confirmed by coronavirus are distributed in five provinces, with Santo Domingo being the most affected district with a cumulative figure of 6,242 cases (231 new in the last 24 hours), followed by the National District that registers 5,503 cases (183 new) , Santiago with 1,603 (11 new ones), San Crist?bal with 1,325 (22 new ones), and La Vega with 1,015 (25 new ones).

                                In the last 4 weeks, the positivity in the processed samples is 17.70%.

                                Of the total confirmed cases, 54.36% (11,963) correspond to men, and the median age at the national level is 39 years, with an interquartile range of between 28 and 53 years.

                                Deaths

                                In the last 24 hours, there were 7 deaths from coronavirus, 3 in the National District, 2 in Santo Domingo, 1 in Barahona and 1 in El?as Pi?a.

                                However, by place of residence, most of the deaths have been recorded in the Santo Domingo province, which has accumulated 109 (2 new in the last 24 hours), 93 in the National District (3 new), 84 in the Duarte province (0 new), 76 in Santiago (0 new) and 32 in Puerto Plata (0 new).

                                Nationally, 69.84% (391) of the deaths corresponded to men, with the mean age being 65 years. As a history of morbidity, arterial hypertension was identified in 26.06% of patients and diabetes in 22.71%.

                                As of this Friday, 568 deaths from coronavirus have been reported nationwide.
