    At least 462 have been infected by swine flu virus in Palestine

    Ramallah: Jan. 10 ? (BNA) Palestinian Health Ministry spokesman announced the number of victims infected by H1N1 swine flu virus in all Palestinian provinces has reached 462 patients.

    He told the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) that the Ministry of Health recorded since the start of wintertime until today 462 swine flu infections in all Palestinian provinces, including 14 fatalities.

      Official: Swine flu death toll rises to 15 in West Bank

      RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Fifteen people have died in the West Bank after contracting the Swine Flu virus, a Palestinian Authority health ministry official said Sunday.

      Tareef Ashour announced that a woman died from the H1N1 virus on Sunday, bringing the death toll to 15 people. There have been 511 cases of Swine Flu in the West Bank and 19 in the Gaza Strip, he added.

        One more death of swine flu in West Bank

        BETHLEHEM, (PIC)-- A Palestinian woman died in Bethlehem province of swine flu on Tuesday bringing the number of deaths of the H1N1 virus in the West Bank to 16, medical sources in the province said.

        They said that the 47-year-old woman died in Beit Jala government hospital, noting that she is the first death of the virus in the province this year.

        The sources said that dozens have contracted the virus in the province and were receiving treatment in various hospitals.

            First fatality in Gaza as swine flu toll rises to 21


            BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- A Palestinian has died of swine flu in the Gaza Strip, among four Palestinian fatalities from the virus in the last 48 hours, the health ministry said Saturday.

            The Palestinian death toll from the latest outbreak of swine flu (H1N1) has risen to 21, director of public health Dr. Asad Ramlawi told Ma'an.

            The announcement marked the first fatality in Gaza from the virus. Ramlawi said two others had died in Ramallah and another person in south Hebron in the last two days.

            All the victims were children or elderly, he added.

            Since December, hundreds of Palestinians have contracted the virus, which has become a seasonal disease according to the World Health Organization.

                Swine flu kills 25 in OPT in past few weeks

                TEL AVIV, 29 January 2013 (IRIN) - Health officials in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT) are calling on residents to get vaccinated against the H1N1 virus (?swine flu?) after 25 deaths in recent weeks.

                Over 700 infections of H1N1 have been reported in the West Bank and 20 in the Gaza Strip, and officials say the number of recent H1N1-related deaths is almost certainly underreported.

                ?The virus has claimed 25 lives to date, three of them in Gaza, and we are in the midst of vaccinating,? Asad Ramlawi, general director of primary health care at the Palestinian Ministry of Health, told IRIN.

                He said 25,000 people had been vaccinated as part of a regular programme over the last few months, and an additional 25,000 have been vaccinated since the outbreak.

                    Tens of Fatalities from Swine Flu in PA Autonomous Areas

                    Israeli health officials confirm that four people have died of swine flu to date this winter season, adding the fears are not over as there are still patients with the illness hospitalized in Israel. Adding to the concerns of Israeli health officials is the news of over two dozen swine flu-related deaths in PA (Palestinian Authority) autonomous areas. PA health officials on Sunday morning 23 Shevat 5773 reported 27 swine flu fatalities this year. PA hospitals seem to be suffering from more overcrowding that in Israel, reporting 700 patients have been diagnosed with the illness, 40 listed in serious condition.

                    The IDF?s Coordinator of Activities in the Territories has arranged for six of the seriously ill swine flu patients to be transferred from PA to Israeli hospitals.
