    KUWAIT CITY, Dec 1: The Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Dr Qais Al-Dowairi denies an outbreak of swine flu in the country. He assured the ministry?s laboratories haven?t recorded any case of the infection, reports Al-Rai daily.
    In a statement, Dr Al-Dowairi allayed fears of the citizens and residents of because the swine flu, indicating cases recorded are merely the symptoms of seasonal flu, which in some ways, are similar to swine flu. He noted the Ministry of Health has provided vaccine against the disease.

    Meanwhile, informed sources have said that preventive health measures are imperative, and the nurses or other health workers are not allow to work if they show any symptoms or found to be suffering from the disease, indicating they are given time off from work.

      MOH rules out bird flu outbreak in Kuwait

      KUWAIT: Seven cases have been diagnosed with bird flu in Kuwait recently, a local daily reported yesterday quoting a senior Ministry of Health official who reassured that there is no fear of an outbreak of the dreaded disease. Speaking to Al-Rai on Thursday, Al-Sabah Hospital?s Director Dr Abbas Ramadan indicated that three senior citizens diagnosed with the disease are in stable condition at the Infectious Diseases Hospital where they receive treatment, along with four children who already have been cured at the hospital, adding that one child has already been discharged..

        Note: in reports from Arab speaking countries "swine flu" often is called: "bird flu".
