A 50-year-old woman succumbed to swine flu on Wednesday at Belinson Hospital in Petach Tikva.
Her death followed a month-long stay at the hospital in extremely severe condition.
One woman dead, several hospitalized in swine flu outbreak
One woman has died of swine flu and another seven women have been hospitalized with the disease, four of them on artificial respiration.
The dead woman, in her 50s, was diagnosed with swine flu weeks ago and had been attached to a heart and lung machine for a month, fighting for her life, the Ynet news site reported.

Israel's Health Ministry issued a warning Thursday of a new outbreak of swine flu, calling on the public to vaccinate themselves after one woman died of the H1N1 virus and at least five other women were hospitalized in serious condition.
According to Israel's Ynet news site, Esther Aryeh, a 55-year-old mother of six from the southern community of Netivot , passed away earlier this week after fighting the disease for several weeks. She had not received her flu vaccine.
"Had Esther gotten vaccinated, this might not have happened," Esther's husband Yehuda was quoted by Ynet as saying. "I call on everyone to get vaccinated. If the doctors say we should - then we must.'
Two other women, who had also not received their flu vaccine, were reported to have been placed in quarantine and three other women have been hospitalized the Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba after being diagnosed with the H1N1 virus.
Swine flu victims jump to 13, 9 in serious condition
After a woman was revealed on Thursday to have died from the H1N1 virus - commonly known as swine flu - an updated count was released by the Health Ministry showing there are 13 Israelis known to be suffering from the virus, with nine of them in serious condition.
Several of those receiving treatment have existing additional illnesses heightening their risk of coming down with swine flu, and indeed the woman aged in her 50s who passed away from the disease was also suffering from background illnesses.
She had been treated at Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva before being transferred to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva around a month ago in very serious condition. Medical staff fought for several weeks to save her life but in the end she tragically died from the illness.
The Health Ministry has called on the public to get a flu vaccine, noting the inoculation is also effective against H1N1.

A 4-year-old girl is hospitalized in serious condition at the Assaf Harofeh Hospital near Rishon Lezion, with doctors attempting to determine whether the girl has swine flu.
One woman has died of swine flu and another ten people have been hospitalized with the disease. Four of them are on artificial respiration.

The Health Ministry called on everyone over the age of six ? especially pregnant women and people of all ages with chronic diseases such as heart problems, diabetes or Down syndrome ? to get a flu shot, following the death of a 54-year-old woman from H1N1 (swine) flu at the Rabin Medical Center-Beilinson Campus in Petah Tikva on Thursday.
The woman, who was first hospitalized a month ago at Soroka-University Medical Center in Beersheba, was transferred to Beilinson to undergo special treatment with a device designed to keep the heart and lungs working until they can recover. The Israeli Health Ministry on Thursday urged the public to get the annual influenza vaccination, after a woman died and 16 others were hospitalized and quarantined over what appears to be a new swine flu outbreak.
Of the 16 people hospitalized, 11 are said to be in serious condition. Two of the patients are pregnant women. A third pregnant woman diagnosed with the virus underwent an emergency caesarean section Thursday after her condition deteriorated. 2-year-old swine flu victim hospitalized in serious condition
A two-year-old infant boy was hospitalized in serious condition on Tuesday, after being diagnosed with the H1N1 virus commonly known as swine flu.
The boy is receiving treatment at Rambam Hospital in Haifa, with doctors noting he suffered from background illnesses, a factor which heightens the risk of coming down with the virus.
After arriving at the hospital four days ago, the two-year-old was hospitalized in the emergency care department on Tuesday while on artificial respiration and having been put to sleep with anesthetics.
The case comes as part of an outbreak of swine flu that has been sweeping Israel since last week.
Two children suffering from swine flu were admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit at Tel Hashomer?s Sheba Hospital.
One of the children is in severe condition. He is sedated and breathing with the help of a ventilator. The second child was released from the hospital after his condition improved.
