    YEREVAN. – Georgian citizen Tadevos Kh. died on the night January 9 at the Mikaelyan Institute of Surgery in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan, and as a result of Influenza A (H1N1), or swine flu.
    He was working in Russia.
    We have learned that on January 1, the 52-year-old man had applied to the Ashotsk rural community medical center in Shirak Province of Armenia. Three hours later, he was transferred to the intensive care unit at the Gyumri city medical center. Two days later, and at the request of his relatives, he was brought to Yerevan.

    Georgia reports first death from swine flu this year

    TBILISI, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- A 39-year-old man was confirmed as the first case dying of complications after being infected with swine flu, Georgian authorities announced Sunday.
    The man was transferred from western Georgia to the capital city when he was in a very critical condition, but died soon last week, according to Paata Imnadze, head of the Georgian National Center for Disease Control (NCDC).
    He confirmed that the cause of the death was the infection of the swine flu, also known as the H1N1 virus.
    However, Imnadze said there is no threat of major outbreaks in Georgia. "We expect some increase since last December but not outbreak," he said, adding that the situation is under control.
    The first case of H1N1 infection in Georgia was registered in 2009. During the flu season between 2010 and 2011, the virus claimed 33 lives and infected 1,800 people in the country.

      "In January 2016, three death cases caused by the H1N1 virus were confirmed by laboratory tests," Amiran Gamkrelidze said, adding that all three victims were male citizens of western Georgia.

          6 Flu-Related Deaths Reported in January
          Two more persons ? one in Tbilisi and another one in the Adjara region ? have died from H1N1 virus, according to the Georgian National Center for Disease Control (NCDC).
          Two new cases bring number of influenza-related deaths to 6 in January (five deaths were caused by H1N1 virus and one by H3N2).
          According to the NCDC, although level of flu activity has increased, it remains below ?epidemic threshold.?
          NCDC said that as of third week of 2016, about 332 cases were detected per 100,000 people ? below the 450-500 mark per 100,000 people that it regards to be ?epidemic threshold?.
          Number of public schools, closed across the country till Monday in an attempt to prevent spread of flu, increased to 267 as of January 28.
          Public kindergartens in Tbilisi have also been closed at least till Monday for the same reason.
          Up to 200 other schools, most of them in the Guria and Adjara regions, also remain closed because of heavy snow.

            H1N1 virus claims third victim in Georgia

            The H1N1 virus has claimed another life in Georgia. A middle-aged woman, who arrived in Zugdidi from Abkhazia and died in a local hospital. This is the third victim of Swine Flu in Georgia.

            Based on the latest data, the 248 virus cases are fixed on every 100 thousand people.

            According to Paata Imnadze, Head of National Diseases Control Center, the statistics of virus cases in Georgia is lower for 2016 in comparison to recent years and there is no threat of an epidemic.

            "This virus is wandering all over the country, as well as all over our neighboring countries in the European region. Tens of thousands of people have already suffered from this virus, some seriously, some more lightly," said Imnadze, and recommended that the population seek help from doctors and hospitals if they notice any symptoms of the flu.

              The death toll from the H1N1 virus, or the swine flu, has risen to five nationwide in January, Georgia's National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) said on Friday.

              In addition, another person was killed by the mutated flu virus H3N2, the NCDC said.

              Among the H1N1 virus-related deaths, one was reported in the capital city of Tbilisi and another one in Adjara, an autonomous republic in southwest Georgia bordering Turkey.

                  Another person dies of swine flu in Georgia

                  Another man died of the so-called swine flu in Georgia Jan. 30, Georgia Online reported.
                  The reason was delayed treatment, the Georgian National Center for Disease Control and Public Health said.
                  According to the center, some 186 cases of the so-called swine flu were registered in 2015-2016. Seven of them were lethal.

                    39-year-old woman died at the Republican hospital in Batumi. Remains unknown if H1N1 was the cause of death . The laboratory tests are being carried out.

                    According to the latest data, 40 laboratory-confirmed cases of H1N1 were reported in Batumi, thee people died, four are in the department of the intensive care.

                              13th deaths by Swine flu reported in Tbilisi

                              Because of H1N1 type of virus one more person has died. A few hours ago it happened in the capital. Head of the Center for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze has confirmed the information to Courier.

                              This is 13th death because of the Swine flu in Tbilisi.
