Registration of (3) new infections of avian influenza (H5N8)

The ministry, in cooperation with relevant authorities, continues its efforts to contain the outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N8). The number of new confirmed laboratory infections among birds in the past 24 hours in the Kingdom has been 3.
On the ground, the veterinary teams in Al-Kharj and Al-Kharj governorates continued their safe disposal of three previously reported poultry production projects and the implementation of the emergency plan for the disease on those projects and the surrounding areas.
While the field veterinary teams in the provinces of Al-Kharj, Huraila, Al-Ahrama, Al-Ahsa, Buraydah, Al-Bukairiya, Al-Dawadmi and Hawatah Bani Tamim are conducting safe disposal procedures for infected birds in a number of traditional breeding habitats in the vicinity of the areas where the infection was detected and declared and implementing and updating the emergency plan at those sites.
On the side of laboratory diagnosis, the Ministry's veterinary laboratories have received 2585 samples to test the disease. All samples were collected on the basis of citizens' reports and epidemiological survey procedures in the vicinity of infected and non-infected areas to detect any new outbreaks early in the Kingdom. The Ministry is currently continuing to implement procedures to prevent the movement of live birds without issuing a prior permission to transport. The ministry calls upon the owners of birds and entrepreneurs to abide by the ministry's decision to prevent movement between the regions without prior permission from the ministry, as previously announced. Articles (51 and 52) of the Executive Regulations of the Livestock Law issued by Royal Decree No. M / 13 dated 10/3/1424 H. to the violators of the ban on the movement of live birds.
The ministry said that the toll free number of the Central Information and Emergency Unit for Livestock (8002470000) is available 24 hours a day to answer queries, provide guidance to bird breeders in ways that protect them from disease and receive reports of suspected cases of individuals or productive projects. Over the past 24 hours, 15 reports have been received, while the number of inquiries about the disease has reached 47, bringing the total number of communications and inquiries (1147) to the question and inquiry since the beginning of the discovery of the disease.
In addition to veterinary awareness and guidance, the Ministry continues its efforts to raise awareness of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N8) in markets and communities in all regions of the Kingdom.
