    Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture announces the number of birds infected with bird flu H5N8

    Riyadh, February 20, SPA -
    The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture announced today that a number of birds have been infected with bird flu (H5N8) in the market Aziziyah in Riyadh, after a report yesterday reported the deaths of birds, accompanied by respiratory symptoms and nervous.
    The ministry said that when a notice was received at the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture Central Bureau of Information and Emergency, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture reported that there was a significant difference in the number of infected birds. Birds of high ferocity (H5N8) in municipal chickens, turkeys and ducks.
    The ministry has also started coordinating with the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Health to implement prevention measures and emergency plans for avian flu, closing the entire market and banning the entry and exit of birds and selling them in the market.

    The Municipality of the Riyadh Region begins the precautionary closure of the Azizia market for birds

    The Secretariat of the Riyadh Region has decided to close the Al Azizia Poultry Market in a precautionary manner, following the receipt of a communication from the General Directorate of Agriculture Affairs in Riyadh concerning the suspected infection of avian influenza (H5N8) and the formation of a committee with agriculture with the participation of a number of concerned public departments in the Secretariat, : General Administration of Environmental Health - General Administration of Markets - General Administration of Hygiene - General Administration of Rest and Safety - General Administration for Operation and Maintenance - Municipality of Aziziyah.

    The establishments have been restricted, the sale and purchase in the market has been prohibited, and all facilities have been closed in a precautionary manner.


    The Riyadh Regional Secretariat pointed out that a team was formed, comprising a number of veterinarians, assistants, health monitors and engineers. In order to direct the situation in the market, follow up on the situation on the ground, and supervise any developments of the sick cases of birds.

    The Secretariat announced its readiness, in coordination with the General Administration of Agriculture Affairs in Riyadh, with equipment, mechanisms and hygiene teams to follow up and remedy the satisfactory situation in the Azizia market for birds.
