Armenia bans import of poultry from six Iranian regions

YEREVAN, January 24. / ARKA /. Armenia?s State Food Safety Service, an affiliation of the Ministry of Agriculture, said today it has temporarily banned the import of a number of goods from six regions of Iran because of bird flu.

The agency said the ban is to prevent penetration of the highly virulent avian flu from the territory of Iran into the territory of Armenia.

More precisely, the ban applies to imports of all types of live poultry, raw materials (feathers), incubator eggs, bone meal, animal feed, plastic and cardboard tar from the provinces of Qazvin, Tehran, Kermanshah, Gilan, Golestan and Merkezi.

The ban is effective until the abolition of anti-epidemic measures in Iran and does not apply to products imported before January 20.
