Suspected Ebola Case After Traveler Returns From the Democratic Republic of the Congo
The Ministry of Health continues to monitor and prepare for the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda and is holding ongoing professional situation assessments led by the Director General of the Ministry of Health.

The person, who returned to Israel 3 days ago, sought medical care after developing a fever and headache. At this stage, this is only a suspected case, and the necessary tests are currently being conducted, with results expected within the next 24 hours. The person is being treated in isolation according to established protocols and based on the assessment conducted and is being transferred to Rambam Medical Center, which has been designated as the specialized center for receiving such suspected cases. At the same time, an epidemiological investigation is underway to track contacts.
In recent months, since the Ebola outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda, the Ministry of Health has continuously monitored developments around the world and conducted systemwide preparedness assessments to ensure the health care system is optimally prepared for any possible scenario.
As part of these preparedness efforts, professional guidelines were distributed to medical teams and relevant hospitals for managing suspected cases. In addition, protective equipment and specialized supplies have been procured, early identification mechanisms have been established for travelers returning from affected areas, and a laboratory testing system for Ebola has been put in place.
The Ministry of Health again urges the public to avoid non-essential travel to areas with active Ebola transmission, particularly the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda. People traveling to these areas are advised to obtain personalized pre-travel consultation at a travel clinic, in accordance with the guidance available on the Ministry of Health website.
Travelers returning from the Democratic Republic of the Congo or Uganda, especially from areas with active Ebola transmission, who develop a fever or unusual symptoms within 21 days of their return are asked to stay home, avoid contact with others, and call the Ministry of Health hotline at *5400. It is important to inform the representative during the call that they stayed in an area with Ebola transmission.
