Coronavirus: Iran imposes travel restrictions as COVID-19 deaths hit record - hitting daily records in deaths this week - November 12, 2020
Iran has been hit the worst by COVID-19 in the Middle East, and has recorded several daily fatality and infection highs in recent days.
Daily deaths reached a record 434 on Sunday, health ministry spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari said, adding that 7,719 more people tested positive for the virus in the past 24 hours.
"The only security we have is our ability to adapt."
Iran’s death toll from the coronavirus rose by 457 to 40,121 on Thursday, the highest in the Middle East, with the total number of identified cases reaching 726,585, health ministry data showed.
Ministry spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari told state TV that Iran had identified 11,517 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
