It?s Your Turn to Get the H1N1 Vaccine

    December 31, 2009

HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius promotes the H1N1 vaccine online and at the College Bowl games.

In a new video message to the American public, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is encouraging everyone ? especially young people ? to get their H1N1 vaccine.

People under the age of 25 are especially vulnerable to this virus. With vaccine supplies increasing, and young people home for the holidays, we hope many will take advantage of this window of opportunity to get the vaccine.

Getting the H1N1 vaccine is the best way to protect yourself, and those you care about, from the H1N1 virus. The vaccine is available in two forms: a flu shot or a nasal spray. Both are equally as safe and effective.

To find a vaccination clinic near where you live, check out our vaccine locator tool.

Sports teams, colleges, and universities have been important partners in the fight against the H1N1 flu. In our effort to spread the word to young people about getting vaccinated, we decided to bring the message into the homes of college football fans. In a new ad campaign that will air during four College Football Bowl Games, Secretary Sebelius sends a personal message to football fans and their families about the importance of getting the H1N1 flu vaccine. "Safety and security don't just happen, they are the result of collective consensus and public investment. We owe our children, the most vulnerable citizens in our society, a life free of violence and fear."
