TRIBUNJATENG.COM, BREBES - Animal Husbandry and Animal Health Service (DPKH) of Brebes Regency urges people not to buy chickens from the market for pets.

This is to anticipate the spread of avian influenza (AI) in poultry caused by the H5N1 virus.

The head of the Brebes DPKH , Ismu Subroto, said there were findings of hundreds of chickens belonging to residents in Rengaspendawa Village, Larangan District, which died suddenly, a few days ago.

However, the deaths of hundreds of chickens were not reported to the DPKH and immediately buried by residents. So the DPKH cannot test whether the cause is bird flu or not.

"But the results of existing studies, hundreds of chickens were still suspect AI (bird flu) because there is no confirmation of the diagnosis.

Therefore, if people continue to raise chickens, they are advised to buy chickens that have received vaccines, "said Ismu, Friday (10/18/2019).

Regarding the hundreds of chickens that died suddenly, he explained, residents in Rengaspendawa initially had hundreds of chickens.

Initially there were several chickens that died first.

After three days, all the chickens in the cage died all. Of the chicken carcasses that have not been buried, found symptoms of purplish spots on the thighs, breasts and wattles.

"We did not have the chance to do tests on chickens because residents were delayed reporting it. But from the symptoms and interviews of chicken farmers, it was estimated that the cause was AI or bird flu ," he explained.
