Children hospitalized for suspected bird flu JAKARTA: Sulianti Saroso Infectious Diseases Hospital has received two more suspected bird flu patients.
The first patient, a seven-year-old boy from Cengkareng in West Jakarta was admitted to the hospital Sunday.
"His condition is getting better. We're still waiting for test results," the hospital's deputy director for service and treatment, Tuty H. Murtono, was quoted as saying Monday by Tempointeraktif.com.
The second patient is a two-year-old girl from Cikarang Barat, Bekasi.
She was diagnosed with a high fever and breathing problems before being admitted to the hospital Sunday afternoon.
"The patient was exposed to the virus from the sick chickens near her house," Tuty said.
As of Sunday, the hospital has treated 10 suspected bird flu suspect patients, six of them children. -- JP
