Sukoharjo (Espos) - District Health Office (DKK) 4087 Sukoharjo provide tamiflu capsules for patients in all health centers and hospitals in Sukoharjo. Each health unit is being dropped around 300 capsules tamiflu.

Head of Disease Control and Environmental Health (P2PL) DKK Sukoharjo, Rustiningsih reporters when met at his office on Saturday (26/02/2011), said supply tamiflu in Sukoharjo safe. Therefore, it would not increase supplies DKK tamiflu order to anticipate the spread of avian influenza or bird flu from poultry to humans.

"Inventory is still very insufficient. If there is demand in the health centers, health centers tell us directly, "explained Rustiningsih.

He goes on, the emergence of sudden deaths of poultry in the village of Pengkol, Nguter and Village Combongan, Sukoharjo need to be wary of. Moreover, changes in weather with high rainfall intensity facilitate transmission of the virus. "We've appealed, if there is high heat and patients who experience shortness of breath, and have a history of direct contact with poultry will immediately be given Tamiflu," said Rustiningsih.http://www.solopos.com/2011/sukoharj...-tamiflu-87170

That's a new one. So if they recover quickly after being given Tamiflu, they are automatically excluded as H5N1 suspects? Ouch. That's a good way to report no human H5N1 infections, and perhaps some of the reasons that apparent CFR of H5N1 in Indonesia is so high; you only have H5N1 if you (almost) die from it.

Although, that perhaps might be a sign of H1N1 infection....

This has been policy in Indonesia for a long time now - I think that they only confirm a case after 3 positive tests are received - so early cases who are effectively treated early with Tamiflu are never recorded as 'positive'. The other point to note is that countries reporting notifiable disease cases to WHO have the right to refuse their data being made public; i.e the WHO knows of the cases, but these cases are never reported in official numbers if the data supplying country has not given their permission for them to be included.

And in the case of Indonesia, not even timely reporting as required by IHR. In 2009, Indonesia had 20 human cases of H5N1 throughout the year. These 20 cases were not reported until the last day of 2009.

WHO never provided a situation update on these cases. They are included in the cumulative totals from the country but are only referenced in a footnote.

Indonesia numbers indicate cumulative total of sporadic cases and deaths which occurred during 2009.
