State records year's first swine flu death

Kolkata, May 14 -- The state recorded the first case of swine flu death this year on Friday. Shreya Aich, an eight-year-old girl from Bongaon in North 24-Parganas district, died at the BC Roy Memorial Hospital for Children. Her blood sample was sent to the pathological laboratory and the report was H1N1 positive.
The state health department has already alerted the North 24-Parganas district administration and instructed it to keep a tab on other patients, especially those with symptoms of cough, cold and respiratory trouble. According to sources, over 500 cases of swine flu infection were reported in Bengal last year and the total number of death stood at over 25 till March last year.
