    Bathinda, February 12, 2015: Earlier two, now another swine flu death has been reported in Bathinda. Subash Chander (50) succumbed to swine flu infection in the wee hours of Thursday. He was undergoing treatment at Apollo hospital in Ludhiana.
    With his death, the death toll has reached three in the district.

      Two more persons died due to swine flu virus in Punjab today taking the toll due to the H1N1 virus to 19 in the state.

      Two persons hailing from Bathinda and Muktsar districts, succumbed to HIN1 flu, an official spokesman said in a release.

      He also said that the total number of patients who have tested positive for the disease has gone up to 45, out of the the 113 suspected cases.

        4 more suspected swine flu patients die

        H1N1 influenza continues to take its toll with four more suspected patients succumbing to the disease in the city in the past 24 hours.
        Two of them died late last night while two others died today. Three of them were admitted to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital (GNDH), where they succumbed to their disease.
        They were identified as Sukhdev Singh, a resident of Ferozepur, Daljit Kaur (50) of Baba Bakala, Harpreet Singh (35) of the Shaheed Udham Singh area and Charanjit Singh of Chheharta. Charanjit Singh was undergoing treatment in a private hospital here.

          Chandigarh, February 13
          Two more persons died of swine flu in Punjab on Friday, taking the death toll due to the H1N1 virus in the state to 21.

          One death was reported from Amritsar and Ferozepur districts each, an official spokesperson of the state health department said.
          With this, the total number of deaths in Punjab because of swine flu has reached 21, he said, adding that so far, 47 patients have tested positive for H1N1 virus.

              BATHINDA: Swine flu toll mounted to five in Bathinda region with the death of 32-year-old Samir Markanda on Sunday evening. Hailing from Tapa in Barnala, he was admitted at PGI, Chandigarh for the past week. The victim was a journalist and son of noted Punjabi writer C Markanda.

                Sangrur man dies of swine flu at PGI

                A 54-year-old resident of Sangrur died of swine flu at the PGI, Sector 12, today while a 25-year-old woman, a resident of Sector 25 in the city, tested positive for the H1N1 virus.
                In Chandigarh, seven cases of swine flu have been reported so far, including three deaths reported in the past one month.

                  One more person has died due to swine flu, taking the death tally due to the H1N1 virus to 24 in Punjab, an official said today.

                  ?According to the latest reports received yesterday, 24 persons have succumbed to H1N1 so far,? said Deepak Bhatia, State Surveillance Officer of Punjab Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme.

                  Out of over 160 suspected patients of swine flu in the state, 67 have tested positive so far for the H1N1 virus, the official said.

                    With 26 deaths and 80 positive cases so far this year, Punjab has seen one of the worst outbreaks of swine flu in the past five years. However, experts insist that the number of cases is on the decline now.

                    ?The number of positive cases has declined significantly as compared to 15 days ago. We are hopeful the situation will be under complete control soon,? said Dr Deepak Bhatia, in-charge of Punjab?s Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP). Experts also say insist that it is like any other viral fever, fatal only for people suffering from other serious diseases along with the flu.

                      One dies of swine flu, toll touches five in city

                      A32-year-old woman from Moga died on Wednesday taking the toll to five in the city. She was admitted to Apollo Hospital since January 28. The total number of patients in Ludhiana are now 21 of which eight are from Ludhiana.
                      Of 59 beds kept in various isolated wards of Ludhiana hospital, 52 have been occupied by patients and hence health authorities have once again indicated that hospitals must increase the number of beds in isolated wards

                        Swine flu: Nine-fold surge in deaths this year

                        PATIALA: Punjab has witnessed a nine-fold jump in deaths from swine flu this year. Compared to only three deaths due to swine flu in the state last year, from January 1 to February 18, at least 27 have died in the corresponding period this year.

                        Data collected by Punjab unit of Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP) revealed that the count of positive patients has also witnessed an increase by over three times.

                        With winter nearing its end, the health authorities are waiting for swine flu cases to ebb. However, the damage has already been done by the killer disease. As many as 82 patients have tested positive so far, compared to just 23 cases in 2014. The health authorities claim that comparison with last year's figures is no indicator to judge the scale of the disease prevalence.

                          Swine flu: 49 deaths reported in Punjab and Haryana

                          Punjab and Haryana have reported 49 deaths due to swine flu so far this year, senior officials said in Chandigarh on Friday. While 29 people have died in Punjab, Haryana has reported 20 casualties.

                          Punjab's nodal officer Deepak Bhatia said 95 swine flu cases are being treated and 227 suspected cases are under observation in different hospitals across the state.

                            Amritsar, February 20
                            Another swine flu patient, Pinderjit Kaur of Jaura village in Tarn Taran, died at an isolation ward in Guru Nanak Dev Hospital here late last night.
                            She was 40 years old and admitted to the hospital on February 16 in a critical condition. Dr NS Neki, in charge of the isolation ward, said that the patient was put on ventilator. She was tested positive for the H1N1 virus by the PGI, Chandigarh. He said of the total 53 patients admitted in the isolation ward, around 19 patients had expired. Eleven of them had tested positive while the remaining were suspected cases.

                                Swine flu has claimed four more lives in Punjab, taking the death toll to 33 in the state, while in neighbouring Haryana the virus has claimed 20 lives so far this year, officials said on Monday. ?According to the latest reports available with us, 33 persons have succumbed to H1N1 in Punjab so far,? said Deepak Bhatia, State Surveillance Officer of Punjab Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme.
